You can’t transfer EA games between accounts yourself. EA says you may ask EA Help whether your accounts are eligible to merge, but a merge isn’t guaranteed and some data—including game progress—may not transfer. Unlinking a console or Steam account and connecting it elsewhere is not a workaround: it can leave progress and purchased or earned content tied to the original EA Account.
Can you move a game or merge two EA Accounts?
EA does not provide a player-operated way to move games or platform accounts between EA Accounts. Its guidance on managing multiple EA Accounts says to contact EA Help if you want to combine accounts. EA also cautions that merging is not always possible, and even an approved move does not guarantee that all game data will follow. Data may remain linked to the original EA Account.
A merge request is different from unlinking a platform account. If you want EA to consider combining accounts, sign in to both accounts if possible and contact EA Help about linking platform accounts. EA must determine whether your accounts qualify; contacting support is a request, not a promise of a transfer.
Why unlinking and relinking won’t transfer your games
Unlinking changes which EA Account is associated with a platform account; it does not move the games, saves, or entitlements to a new EA Account. EA warns that you may lose access from the newly linked account to progress, DLC, expansions, memberships, subscriptions, previous drops and rewards, and in-game purchases. EA’s unlink page currently says you can switch linked accounts up to three times in a rolling year. This is account policy and may change; check the instructions and eligibility notice shown by EA for your account before acting. Official EA guidance has also differed on waiting restrictions, so do not assume a universal waiting period.
What to do if your games or progress are on the wrong account
- Check which EA Account is linked. Sign in to EA Account settings and open Connected Accounts. Confirm which platform account is connected before making changes.
- Recover the original account if needed. If the linked EA Account is unfamiliar or you can no longer access it, try EA’s account-linking and recovery guidance before unlinking. Recovering the original account may preserve access in its original context; moving the platform link does not move progress.
- Ask EA Help about a merge. If your games are split across two EA Accounts, contact EA and ask whether the accounts can be combined. Have access to both accounts if possible. EA says games cannot be transferred if either account has a ban, and age-rating restrictions can affect moves involving child accounts; ask support about your specific eligibility.
- Check the correct account when progress is missing. Confirm that you are using the platform account associated with the EA Account that owns the progress. EA’s lost-progress troubleshooting explains what to check.
Special case: Apex Legends
EA says Apex Legends account merging is not available. Unlinking can cost access to progress and content, and Cross Progression is a separate feature—not a way to transfer an EA Account or move its games to another account.
