You can also buy through Minecraft’s official Minecoins page or redeem a supported prepaid code. Minecoins are tied to the account used for the transaction, and Nintendo platform rules are scheduled to change on October 27, 2026.
Buy Minecoins in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition
- Launch Minecraft: Bedrock Edition and sign in to the Microsoft account you want the Minecoins added to.
- Open Marketplace.
- Select the plus button beside your Minecoin balance.
- Choose a Minecoin package.
- Complete checkout through your device’s store, using a payment method supported by that platform.
Minecraft describes Minecoins as digital currency for purchasing Marketplace content on your account, including skins, texture packs, worlds, and mash-up packs. You can also select a package and check out on Minecraft’s website. Available packages and prices depend on the store and region; Minecraft’s purchase pages do not establish a single price that applies everywhere.
Redeem a Minecoins prepaid code
A prepaid card can let you add Minecoins without entering a saved payment card at game checkout. Minecraft says prepaid cards may be available at retailers. If you have a supported 25-digit code:
- Go to Minecraft’s redemption page or redeem it through your Microsoft account.
- Enter the code and follow the on-screen prompts.
- Open Minecraft and check your Marketplace balance.
Before buying a physical or digital Minecoins prepaid card, check its packaging or listing for supported platforms and regions. Minecraft has announced that newer retail cards may not support Nintendo devices.

Make sure the Minecoins go to the right account
Purchases through Minecraft.net or Marketplace require a Microsoft account. The Minecoins appear in Marketplace when you sign in to Bedrock Edition with the same account used for the purchase. On consoles, linking the console account to a Microsoft account can make Minecoins and non-exclusive purchases available across compatible Bedrock devices, subject to platform restrictions.
If a purchase is missing from your balance
If you bought Minecoins on Minecraft.net while the game was open and they do not appear, Minecraft advises signing out of Minecraft and restarting the game. Then check Marketplace while signed into the Microsoft account used for the purchase.

Nintendo Minecoins change on October 27, 2026
In an announcement published September 1, 2026, Minecraft said that beginning October 27, 2026, Minecoins bought in Minecraft on Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 will be usable only on those systems. Minecoins bought on other devices will no longer be usable for Marketplace purchases on Nintendo devices.
- Minecoins owned before October 27, 2026 will move to a Legacy Wallet and remain usable across compatible platforms, with no expiration.
- When spending coins after the change, Legacy Wallet coins will be used before coins in the new Nintendo Wallet.
- Newer retail cards may not support Nintendo devices, so check the supported platforms shown on the card.

Refunds, gifting, and “free Minecoins” offers
Minecraft’s current Minecoins FAQ says purchases are final and cannot be refunded. It says unauthorized Minecoin purchases made on Minecraft.net can be referred to Microsoft Support. The FAQ does not promise refunds for other purchase situations, so check the relevant platform store’s rules if you have a billing issue.
Minecraft Feedback’s Marketplace FAQ says Minecoins cannot be gifted directly and describes platform store vouchers as an indirect option, but that FAQ warns it may be out of date. Confirm current platform rules before relying on a voucher as a gift. Avoid third-party offers promising free Minecoins: the same FAQ warns that such claims may be scams.
