What the Oath of the Crown stands for
The Crown oath is built around Law, Loyalty, and Responsibility. Its tenets are:
- Law: Uphold civilisation and order.
- Loyalty: Your word is your bond; without loyalty, oaths and laws are meaningless.
- Responsibility: Deal with the consequences of your actions, and fulfil your duties and obligations.
The subclass focuses on protecting allies and was added in Patch 8 in 2025. The BG3 Wiki’s Oath of the Crown reference lists its tenets and mechanics.

Speaking to the Knight lets you adopt the Oathbreaker subclass, replacing your former oath’s Channel Oath abilities and spells with Oathbreaker abilities and spells. A paladin with the Oathbreaker subclass cannot respec through Withers. See the Oathbreaker Knight reference for the mechanics.
