Honkai: Nexus Anima is HoYoverse’s upcoming creature-collecting adventure strategy game, built around bonding with creatures called Anima and using them in exploration and battles. A Gamescom 2026 preview described its combat as top-down arena auto-battles—not Pokémon-style turn-based fights. HoYoverse has announced closed tests on PC, Android, and iOS, but the sources available here do not establish a release date or final launch platforms.
What is Honkai: Nexus Anima?
HoYoverse describes Honkai: Nexus Anima as its first “Anima-raising adventure strategy game.” It is a creature-collecting adventure set in a world shaped by the Nexus, a force connecting paired ideas such as love and hatred, light and darkness, and reality and illusion.
In the game’s premise, the Nexus shattered and its fragments became Nexus Anima: creatures that carry its energy. Players can form a Nexus Link with Anima, use their powers in battle and exploration, and investigate a mystery connected to the player character’s past. The official Evolution Test announcement also highlighted story content, characters, areas, Anima evolution, and cosmetic options such as naming an Anima and taking a photo with it. How is it different from Pokémon?
The creature-collecting premise makes Pokémon a useful point of reference, but the available gameplay preview describes a different battle format. At Gamescom 2026, TechRadar’s Alan Wen reported that players assemble a team of Anima in a top-down arena and watch auto-battles play out, with team placement affecting the encounter. Players could also use up to three cooldown-based ability cards belonging to allies.

Wen described Anima as grouped into abstract Aspects, including Love, Satiation, Pride, and Reality. In that demo, Anima were encountered while exploring a colorful city, and battles began when players approached them. These observations come from a hands-on preview, not a final game specification. Wen also noted that the demo supplied a large roster of high-level Anima and that its battles were easy, making it difficult to judge how much strategic depth the finished game will offer. What do we know about its tests and platforms?
COGNOSPHERE’s June 22, 2026 announcement confirmed the Evolution Test for PC, Android, and iOS. That test was limited and closed, carried no charge, and wiped player data; selected applicants received access. Those are conditions of the test, not confirmation of the final game’s price, platform lineup, or progression model.

An unofficial release tracker lists an earlier closed beta for September 17–23, 2025, and the Evolution Test for July 9–27, 2026. Those are test dates, not launch dates. The tracker was last updated August 11, 2026, and is not a first-party source. Its release-date page reported no release date, window, or target year at that time; check HoYoverse’s official channels for any later announcement.
When is Honkai: Nexus Anima coming out?
No release date is established by HoYoverse’s cited Evolution Test announcement. The available unofficial tracker also reported no date, release window, or target year as of its August 11, 2026 update. Test schedules do not establish when the full game will launch, so a 2026 release should not be assumed.

Is it fair to call it a Pokémon competitor?
It is entering the creature-collector conversation, but “Pokémon killer” is promotional framing rather than a demonstrated result. The available evidence supports a narrower comparison: both invite players to encounter and bond with creatures, while the Gamescom demo’s auto-battler format differs from Pokémon’s familiar turn-based structure. How the finished game handles combat depth, monetization, and its eventual release remains unverified by the cited sources.
