In Minecraft Bedrock Edition, the quickest documented way to find a village is to enable cheats and run /locate structure village in chat. The command returns the nearest matching structure in the current dimension; it is not available with cheats off.
Find a village with the locate command
- Enable cheats for the world. Bedrock’s official
/locatereference says the command requires cheats. - Open chat or the command interface and enter
/locate structure village. Microsoft Learn gives this exact village query in its popular commands examples. - Use the returned location to travel to the village.
The command searches for the nearest specified structure if it exists in the current dimension. It does not guarantee that a village exists in every dimension or world.
If the command cannot find a village
Microsoft’s reference says /locate reports an error when the requested structure is not present in the current dimension. Check that you entered /locate structure village as shown and that you are searching the dimension where you expect the structure to exist.
Can you locate a village without cheats?
The documented locate command requires cheats. The official sources cited here do not establish a particular survival-only route, a guaranteed set of exploration steps, or coordinates for a specific seed. A seed map should not be treated as verified for your world unless it is compatible with your seed and game version.

Bedrock command and world-generation context
Bedrock separated structure and biome locate usage in version 1.19.10, an update published July 12, 2022. The current stable command reference uses the structure form shown above. It also lists an optional useNewChunksOnly argument, which defaults to false; it is unnecessary for a basic village search.
Worlds modified with behavior packs may not follow vanilla village-generation expectations. Microsoft’s village-generation documentation explains that biome definitions can affect village generation.
