In the original Temple Run, the score multiplier applies to points as you earn them during a run. Imangi Studios says that running, collecting coins and picking up bonus items earn points that are immediately multiplied by your current multiplier. Completing each objective adds one multiplier.
How does the multiplier work in Temple Run?
The multiplier increases the score value of qualifying points earned during a run; Imangi describes it as applying immediately, rather than as a single bonus added after the run ends. In its official scoring FAQ, the developer names running, coins and bonus items as point sources affected by the current multiplier.
Each objective completed in the original game adds one score multiplier. That gives objectives a direct scoring benefit: subsequent qualifying points are multiplied at the higher rate.
How do you increase your score multiplier?
In the original Temple Run, complete objectives. Imangi states that each completed objective is worth one additional multiplier. The official game description presents the game as an endless runner focused on avoiding obstacles, collecting coins, buying power-ups and unlocking characters, but it does not provide a fuller objective list or scoring formula.

How does this differ in Temple Run 2?
Temple Run 2 has its own objective and leveling guidance. Imangi’s support article says completing objectives and leveling up can increase the score multiplier. It describes three objectives in a queue: some can be completed in one go, while others accumulate progress over multiple runs.
The article’s menu instructions are explicitly labeled for version 1.81: tap Leaderboards & Stats, then Player Profile, then Objectives. What the official explanation does not specify
Imangi’s FAQ explains the multiplier at a high level, but does not publish a complete scoring equation, explain the order of all score modifiers, state a rounding rule or give a maximum multiplier. The available official guidance also does not establish that every app version uses identical scoring details. Treat exact calculations or a supposed multiplier cap as unconfirmed unless a source for your specific version documents them.
