The easiest first Mysterious Egg to reach is in the final treasure room of the Ancient Farm Temple near the Caravan. Progress through the opening tutorial until the game prompts you to open the Glimmering Door, complete the temple, then loot the chest at the end. The egg type inside is random, so this route cannot guarantee a specific Luma, such as a Turtle.
How to get the first Mysterious Egg
- Complete the initial tutorial and follow the early quests until you receive the prompt to open the Glimmering Door. Bring the Copper Whip: the temple route uses it for levers, webs, loot and enemies. Dot Esports’ Farm Temple walkthrough gives room-by-room directions; it was last updated November 21, 2024, so follow current in-game prompts if a patch has changed a detail.
- In the opening room, use the Copper Whip on the marked lever, then continue through the doorways. Barrels and chests along the way offer optional loot.
- Use the Copper Whip against bats and break spider webs that block your path. For flame traps, wait until they trigger and move through during a safe window.
- When you reach a fire-breathing statue, interact with it from the available paths to redirect its flame. In the room with two statues, approach from behind during a safe window, turn them, and retreat before the next flame cycle.
- Skip the Farmer’s Door if you are focused on the egg. The walkthrough lists its requirements as three Grapes, three Wheat and 10 Earth Spirits; the right-hand archway continues toward the final rooms.
- Open the chest in the final treasure room to collect the Mysterious Egg. The walkthrough also reports an Ancient Homestead Key in that room.
Can you choose which Luma egg you get?
No. The Luma Island Wiki’s egg-location guide says the Golden Chest locations stay the same between playthroughs, but the Luma Egg type inside each chest is random. That means the Farm Temple is a reliable place to find an egg, not a way to target a particular species.
The wiki lists Golden Chests in the final room of each of the ten temples, in one offering-crystal shrine in each of the four zones, and at the peak of the Jungle Island volcano. If you are looking for a Luma Turtle egg, you can search these fixed locations, but the sources do not identify a particular chest as a guaranteed Turtle drop.
How to hatch the egg
Finding an egg is only the first step. The wiki’s hatching requirements are a Mysterious Egg, a Luma Incubator and Luma Life.

Get and build a Luma Incubator
Dot Esports’ 2024 walkthrough says the incubator drawing is sold at the blue-and-white stall on the outskirts of Town for 500 gold. Its listed recipe is five Farm Leather, three Copper Bars, five Fabric and five Glass. The wiki quest listing independently gives the same materials. Check the current crafting interface for the recipe if an update has changed it.
The walkthrough says Farm Leather and Fabric are made at the Simple Workbench; Copper Bars are smelted from Copper Ore and Charcoal at an Ore Smelter; and Glass is made from Sand and Charcoal at a Kiln. It points to the farm, caves and beach as places to gather the ingredients.

Get Luma Life
The walkthrough lists the first Luma Life at 250 Spirits of any type. Once you have the egg, incubator and Luma Life, use the incubator to hatch the egg.

Shop availability depends on progression. The wiki says that after the Pet Shop is repaired, players can buy duplicates of eggs they have already obtained. Separately, the Luma Island Team’s September 1, 2025 patch note says 15 Luma Eggs unlock in the Pet Shop when a player enters the final chamber of the “Unravel the mystery of Luma Island” quest. Pirate Luma Eggs still need to be found. These rules do not mean that every egg is purchasable from the start.
