Your total depends on which episodes your account already owns. Complete-season packs are also available for Seasons 2 and 3, but check their current prices in the in-game Gem Store rather than assuming a fixed bundle price.
How much does each Living World episode cost?
ArenaNet’s Living World support page says a missed episode can be purchased for 200 gems through the Story Journal. Episodes unlocked during their original free release window remain unlocked on the account, so you may not need to buy every episode in a season.
To see what you still need, open the Hero Panel and select the Story Journal. Locked episodes have a “Buy Now” option. Check your account there before estimating a total.
What would it cost to buy every episode individually?
If none of the episodes are already unlocked and you purchase each one at the 200-gem rate, the totals are:

| Season | Episodes in complete pack | Individual-purchase calculation | Expansion needed to play |
|---|---|---|---|
| Season 2 | 8 | 8 × 200 = 1,600 gems | No expansion upgrade required |
| Season 3 | 6 | 6 × 200 = 1,200 gems | Heart of Thorns |
The episode counts and expansion requirements come from the official Guild Wars 2 game page; the totals are calculations using ArenaNet’s per-episode rate. They are not quoted complete-pack prices.
Are complete-season packs cheaper?
Seasons 2 and 3 can be purchased as complete packs, but the official sources do not provide a complete, current price list for those packs. A bundle may cost less than buying all its episodes separately, particularly during a sale, but compare its current in-game price with the cost of only the episodes you are missing.

For example, the Guild Wars 2 Wiki recorded a Season 2 Complete Pack promotion at 768 gems, discounted from 1,280, from August 25 through September 1, 2026. That sale has ended and is only an example of a past discount, not a current offer. The wiki advises checking the in-game Gem Store for current items and prices.
How to choose the lowest-cost option for your account
- Open the Hero Panel and go to the Story Journal. Note which episodes are unlocked and which show “Buy Now.”
- Count only the locked episodes you want. At 200 gems each, multiply that number by 200 to estimate individual purchases.
- Check the Gem Store for the current complete-pack price for the season. Compare it with the cost of the episodes you still need, not necessarily the full-season individual total.
- Confirm you own the expansion required to play that content. An expansion purchase does not automatically unlock episodes you missed.
Do expansions include Living World episodes?
No. ArenaNet distinguishes expansion ownership from episode unlocks: buying an expansion does not grant episodes missed during their free release windows. Season 2 requires no expansion upgrade, while Season 3 requires Heart of Thorns to play. ArenaNet’s support access table also associates Season 4 and the Icebrood Saga with Path of Fire. Once an episode is unlocked, any level-80 character on the account can access it.

Where do you buy gems?
The Black Lion Trading Company is Guild Wars 2’s Gem Store. ArenaNet’s gem-purchase help page explains the “Buy Gems” flow. It lists credit card and PayPal, with paysafecard available only in selected European countries; payment options depend on location. The cited support information does not establish a current cash price for gems, so check the purchase screen for the options and prices available to you.
