For original-style WoW Classic, a new player should plan for roughly 10–14 days of /played time to reach level 60. Efficient players may do it in about 4–5 days /played, while the reported world-first time of 3 days and 6 hours is an exceptional outlier—not a realistic target for most players. These are guide estimates and a reported run time, not a measured average or a guarantee.
“Days” means cumulative time logged into the game, not calendar days. At two hours of play per day, 10–14 days /played would take substantially longer in real-world time than it would for someone playing ten hours a day.
What do those estimates mean in hours?
Converting the guide estimates makes the scale easier to picture: 10–14 days /played equals 240–336 hours, and 4–5 days /played equals 96–120 hours. The world-first report of 3 days and 6 hours equals 78 hours. These conversions do not make the estimates more precise: Icy Veins presents them as broad expectations, and the record is a reported exceptional run, not a benchmark for ordinary play. Icy Veins’ WoW Classic leveling guide
Calendar time depends on how often you play. For example, if a player accumulates two hours a day, 10–14 days /played amounts to about 120–168 calendar days of play at that pace. Actual elapsed time may vary with missed sessions and changes in play time.

Why leveling times vary so much
Travel and route planning
Time spent moving between zones and objectives is part of leveling, even though it does not directly earn experience. It can be especially costly before the first mount at level 40. Planning nearby quests together and avoiding unnecessary backtracking can improve the pace. A route guide or quest-tracking addon may help organize objectives; Wowhead names Questie and ClassicCodex as examples, but current compatibility should be checked for the specific Classic mode. Class, combat, and recovery
Kill speed depends on class, abilities, gear, and how well a leveling strategy fits that class. Recovery between fights matters too: health and mana regeneration, food and drink, First Aid bandages, and gear stats can change how much time is spent waiting. A route or combat approach that suits one class may not be equally effective for another. Wowhead; Icy Veins

Rested experience and breaks
Logging out in an inn or other rest area builds rested experience, which boosts experience earned from kills after returning. That can suit players who take regular breaks, but the cited guides do not establish a universal amount of time saved, so it cannot be used to promise a particular faster finish. Wowhead
Questing, dungeons, or a mix?
The useful comparison is realized experience per hour—not the best rate a method can achieve under ideal conditions. Include travel, group formation, downtime, and wipes when judging how fast an approach is likely to be for you.

| Approach | Potential advantage | What can slow it down | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solo questing | Flexible play schedule; no need to wait for a group. | Travel between objectives, combat pace, and recovery time. | Players who want to progress independently or play in shorter, irregular sessions. |
| Dungeon leveling | A consistent, experienced group can earn experience quickly. | Recruiting, waiting, travel, wipes, and changing party members can erase the advantage. | Players with a reliable group who enjoy repeated dungeons. |
| Mixed route | Balances questing and dungeon play rather than relying on one method. | Switching activities and arranging groups still take time. | Players seeking variety or a practical compromise between flexibility and group play. |
Icy Veins describes melee-cleave and spell-cleave dungeon strategies. Spell-cleave can have high experience potential when executed well, but it involves dangerous large pulls. If a group spends too long assembling or repeatedly dies, solo questing may be faster in practice. Icy Veins; Wowhead
Check which Classic version you are playing
Do not assume one time estimate applies to every version or season of WoW Classic. Blizzard’s Season of Mastery announcement said that season planned increased experience gains compared with the first Classic iteration; that establishes that rates have differed, but does not establish the exact current rates for every mode. The 10–14 day estimate is best treated as a rough expectation for original-style Classic, not a mode-by-mode guarantee. Blizzard’s Season of Mastery announcement

- Choose a /played target. Use 10–14 days as a broad planning range for a new player in original-style Classic, or 4–5 days as an efficiency-focused estimate—not a promise.
- Convert it to hours. Multiply the number of /played days by 24: for example, 10 days is 240 hours.
- Divide by your typical daily play time. A 240-hour target at two hours per day is about 120 play days; at four hours per day it is about 60.
- Adjust based on your actual pace. Your class, route, downtime, group reliability, and chosen Classic mode all affect how closely you match the rough target.
There is no representative population study behind these figures in the cited sources. The time ranges come from Icy Veins’ guide, which attributes the 3-day-6-hour result to a world-first level 60 and describes that pace as unrealistic for most players. Treat the figures as orientation, not statistical averages. Icy Veins
