How to Reset Dungeons to Farm in Diablo 4

To repeat an ordinary dungeon in Diablo 4, leave the dungeon instance, open the map, expand the Journal tab, and choose Reset Dungeons. Then re-enter. A March 2026 guide reports that the control is unavailable while you are inside the dungeon; Nightmare Dungeons and certain endgame boss fights use different repeat methods.

Reset an ordinary dungeon

  1. Finish the run, or stop at the point where you want to start over.
  2. Leave the dungeon instance. Use Leave Dungeon on the action wheel or teleport to town.
  3. Open the map and expand the Journal tab on the right side.
  4. Select Reset Dungeons. Confirm the prompt if one appears.
  5. Re-enter the dungeon to begin another run.

These steps are reported by a secondary guide updated March 11, 2026: Icy Veins’ Diablo 4 dungeon reset guide. Blizzard’s latest official patch notes reviewed here do not document this ordinary-dungeon interface, so the steps should not be read as confirmed by those notes.

Repeat Nightmare Dungeons with another Sigil

Nightmare Dungeons have a separate route. After completing one, activate another Nightmare Sigil from inside the completed dungeon; you do not need to leave first. Blizzard says this option became permanent for Seasonal and Eternal Realms with the Season 9 Nightmare Dungeon updates: Blizzard’s Nightmare Dungeon update.

Fight covered endgame bosses again

For the endgame bosses covered by Blizzard’s Season 5 change, the summoning altar reappears after the kill. Use it to spend the required summoning resources and start another attempt; resetting the dungeon is not necessary. Check the altar’s current in-game instructions for the boss-specific requirements. Blizzard described this change in its Season 5 announcement.

Why older advice says the button was removed

In its 2023 Open Beta retrospective, Blizzard said, “The Reset Dungeon button has been disabled.” The same developer note explained that players could still repeat dungeons by grouping with someone else and having that player start the dungeon. Blizzard cited preventing Hardcore players from using resets to avoid death in challenging dungeons, while describing Nightmare Dungeons as content designed for repeated, rewarding play. That was launch-era context, not proof that the ordinary-dungeon control is still absent: a March 2026 guide reports the Journal-tab flow described above. Read Blizzard’s Open Beta retrospective.

Choose the repeat method for the activity

Activity How to repeat it Leave first? Evidence and qualification
Ordinary dungeon Leave, open the map’s Journal tab, select Reset Dungeons, and re-enter. Yes, according to the guide. Secondary guide updated March 11, 2026; the latest official patch notes reviewed here do not document the control.
Nightmare Dungeon Complete it and activate another Nightmare Sigil inside. No. Blizzard says the feature became permanent for Seasonal and Eternal Realms with the Season 9 updates.
Covered endgame boss fight Use the altar that reappears after the kill and pay the required summoning resources. No dungeon reset required. Blizzard’s Season 5 announcement describes the altar change; consult the current game for boss-specific requirements.

What to know about current patch notes

Blizzard’s all-platform build 3.2.2 patch notes are dated September 30, 2026. They include dungeon fixes, but do not describe the ordinary-dungeon Reset Dungeons steps above: Diablo IV build 3.2.2 patch notes. The sources cited here also do not establish a single best ordinary dungeon to farm for every build, season, or reward.
