The reported U.S. price is $9.99 for the game itself. That is not a guaranteed all-in cost for every feature or completion goal: some features require a compatible USB-C camera, while secondary reporting identifies a controller with GL/GR buttons and a 4K-capable display as relevant to some completion goals. Your additional cost depends on what you already own and what you mean by “complete.”
What the $9.99 price covers
Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour is a paid digital game, not a free game included with the console. Nintendo describes it as a virtual exhibition using tech demos, minigames, quizzes, and other interactions to introduce the system. Nintendo Life reported the U.S. game price as $9.99 in 2025; regional prices and current checkout prices may differ. Nintendo’s launch announcement provides the launch context, and Nintendo Life’s price report gives the U.S. figure.
The $9.99 is the software price only. It does not include a Switch 2 console or any accessories you may need for particular features.
Which extra equipment could affect the cost?
Compatible USB-C camera
Nintendo’s eShop listing says a compatible USB-C camera is required for some game features and is sold separately. The Nintendo Switch 2 camera is one compatible example. If you already own a compatible camera, you may not need to spend more; otherwise, the relevant cost is the current price of the camera you choose. Check Nintendo’s Welcome Tour eShop listing for the camera requirement.

Controller with GL/GR buttons
Nintendo Life’s 2025 completion-focused report identifies a controller with GL/GR buttons as necessary for one minigame, naming the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller and Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip as options. This is secondary reporting, not a universal accessory requirement stated in Nintendo’s product listing. Check the specific challenge’s requirements before buying anything, especially if you already have a compatible controller. Read Nintendo Life’s completion-focused report.
4K-capable display
Some content has been associated with 4K output, but Nintendo says 4K resolution is available only in supported games and requires a compatible display. That does not mean every player needs to buy a 4K screen to play or finish the game. Whether your display affects your completion goal depends on the content you intend to access and the equipment you already own. Nintendo’s Switch 2 information explains the supported-4K and compatible-display condition. TechRadar’s 2025 review also discusses content associated with the camera and 4K display; treat that as reviewer context rather than a rule applying to every player. Read the review.

Estimate your own total
There is no single authoritative all-in completion price established by these sources. Work out your incremental spend by separating the game from any hardware you actually lack:
- Check the current price of Welcome Tour in your regional Nintendo eShop. The cited $9.99 figure is a reported U.S. software price from 2025, not a universal or guaranteed current checkout price.
- Decide what “complete” means for you: playing the main experience, accessing features that use a camera, or pursuing every available medal or challenge.
- Check the requirements for the particular feature or challenge you want to access. Nintendo explicitly lists a compatible USB-C camera for some features; the GL/GR controller implication comes from secondary reporting.
- Subtract compatible equipment you already own. Price only the additional hardware required for your chosen goal, using current prices for your region.
Past accessory-cost examples in completion coverage were date- and region-specific and varied with controller choice. They are not reliable current totals. Keep the game price, accessory prices, region, and equipment already owned separate when estimating your own cost.
