How much health does a Raider have?
A current gameplay guide reports that a Raider starts with 100 HP. The reviewed sources did not include an official Embark statement confirming that exact base value, so treat 100 HP as a guide-reported figure rather than a developer-confirmed statistic. The guide also says progression, perks, and gear do not increase maximum HP.
At 0 HP, a player is downed. Squadmates can revive downed players, although the reviewed material does not establish every mode-specific or update-specific condition for revives.
Do shields add health?
No. Shields mitigate incoming damage rather than adding a second pool of HP. A shielded Raider can still lose health, so having a full shield does not guarantee survival when HP is low.

PC Gamer writer Morgan Park summarized the mechanic in a November 3, 2025 guide: “shields only mitigate damage, and not very much of it.” The guide reported mitigation rates of 40% for Light Shields, 42.5% for Medium Shields, and 52.5% for Heavy Shields. Those are dated guide-reported figures, not confirmed current values; sources also disagree about the Medium Shield rate, so its exact percentage is not settled here.
How are health and shields restored?
HP healing and shield recharge use different consumables. A medical item restores health; a shield recharger restores shields, not HP. The All Things How guide lists a Vita Shot as restoring 50 HP instantly and bandages as healing over time. These reported item values can change with game updates.
