If a Sim is already a Ghost, the most broadly applicable way to bring them back is to feed them Ambrosia. You’ll need level 10 in both Cooking and Gourmet Cooking, an Angelfish, a Death Flower, and a Potion of Youth. Other options depend on packs or preparation before the Sim died: Dedeathify, a pre-bound Book of Life, or a Wish for Life at the Wishing Well.
First, make sure the Ghost is still available. Don’t choose Release Spirit to the Netherworld if you want to resurrect them; EA says that choice means the Ghost cannot be brought back.

EA’s current Help guide describes the first four as ways to restore an existing Ghost. The last two are time-sensitive ways to save a Sim during Grim’s reaping, not ways to bring back someone who has already died.
Before you start: keep the Ghost available
A Ghost can be playable or free-roaming. Keep the urn or tombstone connection intact and don’t release the spirit to the Netherworld. EA’s Ghost guide states, “If you choose this option, you can’t bring this Ghost back.” See EA’s The Sims 4 Ghost Guide for its overview of Ghosts and the release option.

Bring a Ghost back with Ambrosia
Ambrosia is EA’s broadly applicable method for an existing Ghost, provided you can meet its skill and ingredient requirements. EA Help says, “Ambrosia has the power to bring Ghost Sims back from the dead.”
- Raise a Sim’s Cooking skill to level 10.
- Raise that Sim’s Gourmet Cooking skill to level 10.
- Collect an Angelfish, a Death Flower, and a Potion of Youth. The ingredients must be in the cooking Sim’s Personal Inventory or in the fridge.
- Choose Make Ambrosia and prepare the dish.
- Give the finished Ambrosia to the Ghost.
Getting a Death Flower
EA describes the Death Flower as a rare in-game plant. Its Help guide lists several acquisition routes: buy a random Rare Plants seed packet for §1,000, sometimes find one at the Potion Shop in Caster’s Alley if you own Realm of Magic, grow one, or use a cheat. The guide also explains a gardening route: at Gardening level 5, unlock grafting and graft a Pomegranate to an Orchid. See EA’s guide to getting a Death Flower for the options.

The Death Flower also has a separate use during a death in progress: you can offer it to Grim to save the Sim he is reaping. That is prevention, not a substitute for feeding Ambrosia to an existing Ghost.
Use Dedeathify with Realm of Magic
If you own The Sims 4: Realm of Magic, a Spellcaster who has mastered the Untamed School of Magic can cast Dedeathify on a Ghost. The spell brings the Ghost back to life. This route does not require the Ambrosia ingredients, but it does require the pack and the relevant Spellcaster mastery.

Resurrect a Sim with a Book of Life
The Book of Life works only if the author prepared it for the intended Sim before that Sim died.
- Complete the final level of the Bestselling Author Aspiration.
- On a computer, choose Write > The Book of Life and finish writing the book.
- Select Capture Epic Saga and bind the book to the Sim you want to protect.
- After that Sim dies, use the book’s Summon interaction to bring their Ghost over.
- Have the Ghost read the book to resurrect them.
Try the Wishing Well with care
The Wishing Well from Romantic Garden Stuff offers a Wish for Life interaction while you interact with a Ghost. EA warns that the wish may backfire and curse the Sim, so it is not a guaranteed resurrection method.

Save a Sim while Grim is reaping
If Grim is at the scene and has not finished reaping the Sim, act immediately. These options are for a death in progress; they do not bring an existing Ghost back.
Offer Grim a Death Flower
Give Grim a Death Flower in exchange for the Sim’s life. EA’s current Help guide reports a 100% success rate for this interaction. The same flower is also needed for Ambrosia, so decide which situation you are addressing before using it.
Use a Helpful Ghost’s Save a Life power
In The Sims 4: Life & Death, a Ghost with the Helpful Ghost power—called Grim’s Ride-or-Die in the Ghost Mastery Panel—can talk to Grim and choose Save a Life. EA reports a 100% success rate for this interaction when the Sim is dying from a cause other than old age.
Other last-second options
- Offer Grim a Death Frog: EA says Grim has a high chance of accepting it, but does not give a numeric probability.
- Plead with Grim: A Sim can plead once before Grim reaps them. EA says it is not highly successful; Charisma, a Confident Moodlet, and seducing Grim first can improve the chance.

Pack content and menu behavior can change with game updates, so check the in-game interactions if an option differs from these instructions.
