To finish the Develop a Capital Economy mission path in Europa Universalis V, focus on the trade profit from the specific good the mission selected—not your country’s total monthly trade income. The final task, Creation of Profit, also depends on satisfying its earlier requirements, including domestic demand and exporting that target good. Its profit threshold is a mission variable, not a published fixed amount, so check the task tooltip in your current game.
What the Develop a Capital Economy missions require
Unofficial game-data reference EU5DB lists three tasks in this path: Manufactory Focus, Construct the Manufactories and Creation of Profit. Their conditions and modifiers may change between game versions; use the current in-game task text as the authority for your save.

Manufactory Focus
This task is associated with embracing Capital Economy and Trade Focus. It requires a suitable location that you own and control, is not starving or under siege, and meets the mission’s control threshold. You must select an eligible good produced in the target market. Completing the task grants a ten-year Industry Focus modifier; the available task data does not specify the modifier’s exact effects. EU5DB mission data
Construct the Manufactories
This task follows Manufactory Focus and checks construction and production requirements. In particular, it compares the effective number of production buildings associated with the selected traded good against a mission variable. The available data does not establish one universal building count. Completion grants a ten-year Advances in Production modifier. EU5DB mission data
#1 Best Overall
- Flexible Nation Building – decide on your type of government, the structure of your society, your trade politics and much, much more
- Highly detailed and interactive cities which are unique for each culture
- Use historical Ideas and recruit Great Men in order to make your country flourish the way you want it to
- Co-operative multiplayer over LAN or Internet
Creation of Profit
The final task requires its preceding conditions, including satisfying domestic demand and exporting the mission’s target good. It then checks whether the export’s trade profit in the target market exceeds the mission’s mission_profit_to_beat variable. EU5DB does not publish a fixed numeric threshold. Completing the task grants a twenty-year Profit Dividends modifier. EU5DB mission data
Why total trade income may not complete the final task
The condition is tied to the profit on the export of the selected mission good in the target market. A countrywide monthly trade-income figure is not a substitute for that check. Confirm the selected good and market, make sure the export is active, and inspect its own trade-profit figure along with the task’s prerequisite conditions.
If the task looks ready but does not complete, read its current tooltip again and let the game advance. One player reported that a task which seemed stuck triggered after unpausing, but that report is anecdotal and does not establish how or when the game evaluates the condition. Player discussion

Paradox Tinto’s explanation of Trade Orders in version 1.4 describes configurable instructions layered over trade automation. Orders can prioritize profit, food or shortage relief, and can specify target markets and minimum profit. Higher-priority orders receive Trade Capacity first; lower-priority orders and automation use what remains. Check the interface and available settings in your own game version before following version-specific steps. Paradox Tinto’s economy explanation
| Goal | Trade-order approach | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Meet the mission’s profit check | Prioritize profitable exports, direct an order toward the selected good and target market, and set a suitable minimum profit. | Trade Capacity assigned elsewhere is unavailable to this order. |
| Improve supply or stability | Prioritize food or goods that relieve shortages. | Those orders can use Trade Capacity that might otherwise pursue profitable exports. |
| Strengthen the tax base | Export goods that contribute importantly to your Tax Base. | Trade profit can be lower, even as higher home-market prices increase the generated Tax Base. |
These are distinct economic aims, not a guaranteed build order. As Paradox Tinto UX Designer Jorge put it: “Instead of seeking to earn money from Trade, you can use Trade Orders to export your main Tax Base contributors, even if that means lower Trade profits.” Choose based on whether the immediate need is mission progress, supply, or tax-base development. Check the current mission text before changing your economy
The cited official trade explanation covers version 1.4, while the mission conditions are listed in an unofficial database. The available sources do not establish whether the current build has changed those scripts. If your task’s visible requirements differ, follow the tooltip in your game rather than assuming a particular profit amount, building count, or modifier effect.
