NYT Connections puzzle #995 is from Monday, March 2, 2026. If you’re looking for that dated puzzle’s solution, the four groups are below—stop at the hints if you want to keep solving on your own.

Hints for Connections #995

  • One group consists of gymnastics equipment.
  • One group uses words that can describe a person’s status or position.
  • One group contains calls made in baseball.
  • For the last group, add the same word after each entry to complete a familiar expression or name.

Connections answers for March 2, 2026

Spoiler warning: The complete solution is below.

Yellow: Gymnastics apparatus

BEAM, HORSE, RINGS, VAULT

Green: Status

POSITION, RANK, STANDING, STATION

Blue: Baseball calls

BALL, FOUL, SAFE, STRIKE

Purple: ___ Chicken

FUNKY, POPCORN, RUBBER, SPRING

How the groups fit together

The apparatus group gathers four events’ equipment: the balance beam, pommel horse, rings and vault. POSITION, RANK, STANDING and STATION can each describe someone’s status. BALL, FOUL, SAFE and STRIKE are calls heard in baseball. The final set completes phrases or names with “chicken”: funky chicken, popcorn chicken, rubber chicken and spring chicken.

Words such as FOUL, RANK and FUNKY can suggest more than one association, which makes them tempting decoys. Check that all four words fit one precise category rather than locking in a group based on a single word.
