Why the trickier connections fit
SLINKY describes a fit
In the close-fitting group, SLINKY is an adjective describing clothing that fits closely; it is not the familiar toy. CLINGY, SLEEK, and SNUG also describe how clothing can fit or sit against the body.
DUBBING is a ceremonial occasion
DUBBING belongs with occasions when someone might kneel because a person traditionally kneels to be dubbed a knight. The other words point to kneeling during an apology, prayer, or proposal.
The apostrophe category spans several uses
An apostrophe can mark a CONTRACTION or a POSSESSIVE; the same mark is also used as a quotation mark or to indicate a FOOT in measurement. Those varied uses connect the four words.

How Connections works
Connections asks players to sort 16 words into four groups of four based on a shared link. Players can make up to four mistakes before the game ends. The challenge is that some words can suggest more than one possible connection, so the category labels are useful confirmation once a group is found.
