Connections #903 answers for November 30, 2025
The sixteen words on the board were WHISTLEBLEW, MISS, COCKATIEL, SPARROW, BEAR, HOOK, TURKEY, UNREAD, SWALLOW, SILVER, STAND, BUST, LEMON, LUFFY, CAMEROON, and STOMACH.
| Color | Connection | Words |
|---|---|---|
| Yellow | Tolerate | BEAR, STAND, STOMACH, SWALLOW |
| Blue | Fictional pirates | HOOK, LUFFY, SILVER, SPARROW |
| Green | Flop | BUST, LEMON, MISS, TURKEY |
| Purple | Ending in color homophones | CAMEROON, COCKATIEL, UNREAD, WHISTLEBLEW |
Why these words belong together
Yellow: tolerate
To bear, stand, stomach, or swallow something is to put up with it.
Blue: fictional pirates
Hook, Luffy, Silver, and Sparrow are fictional pirates: Captain Hook, Monkey D. Luffy, Long John Silver, and Jack Sparrow.
#1 Best Overall
Green: flop
A bust, lemon, miss, or turkey can describe a failure. A lemon is a defective or unsatisfactory item; turkey and bust can also mean a failure.
Purple: words ending in color homophones
The endings sound like color names: Cameroon ends with “roon,” a homophone of “rune” rather than a color? In this category, the intended sounds are blue, teal, red, and blew: cockatiel (teal), unread (red), whistleblew (blue), and Cameroon (?).

Connections presents sixteen words for sorting into four groups of four. Each group shares a connection, and the categories are color-coded by difficulty. You have four guesses before the game ends.
- Look for direct meanings and synonyms first; several words may seem to fit more than one idea.
- When the game says “one away,” treat it as a clue that three selected words fit together, then reconsider the fourth.
- Shuffle the board to change the words’ visual arrangement and help reveal combinations you may have overlooked.
- If you are stuck, take a break and return with fresh eyes.
For a future puzzle, check possible near-matches before submitting a group: a word that seems to fit can belong to a different category, especially when one group relies on a sound or word ending.
