Hints for Connections #855
Try sorting the tiles before revealing the categories. These clues move from broad to more direct:
- Trouble brewing: Think of expressions for situations that may become dangerous or complicated.
- Nighttime pub fun: Look for activities a bar might advertise.
- Get out of here!: These phrases can express relief or impatience when someone finally leaves.
- Rip off: Focus on the final word of each phrase; each can mean a swindle or be associated with swindling.

| Bar events | HAPPY HOUR, KARAOKE, LIVE MUSIC, TRIVIA NIGHT |

Why the groups fit
Metaphors for potentially volatile situations
A can of worms or Pandora’s box suggests opening up trouble; stirring a hornet’s nest invites a hostile response, while a minefield is a situation that requires careful navigation.

Bar events
HAPPY HOUR, KARAOKE, LIVE MUSIC, and TRIVIA NIGHT are all familiar activities or events offered at bars.
Words after a welcome departure
ABOUT TIME, FINALLY, GOOD RIDDANCE, and SAYONARA can each follow the idea of someone leaving, conveying relief, impatience, or farewell.
Rank #2
Ending with synonyms for “swindle”
The purple group is built from the last words: HUSTLE, CON, FLEECE, and STIFF. Each is used for a swindle, a swindler, or a way of cheating someone.
What can make this grid tricky
Some tiles invite plausible but misleading connections. Forbes notes that SAYONARA and KARAOKE are both Japanese words, while PANDORA’S BOX and GOLDEN FLEECE both evoke Greek mythology; several tiles can also bring film titles to mind. Those overlaps are red herrings rather than the intended four-way sort.
