That is a cautious planning estimate—not an official HoYoverse duration or a measured player average. Your time will depend on dialogue pace, combat retries, travel, and optional detours.
What the full Fontaine Archon Quest includes
Fontaine’s Archon Quest is Chapter IV, “Masquerade of the Guilty.” Its five acts were released across Versions 4.0–4.2. HoYoverse’s Version 4.0 notice gives the official names of the first two acts and confirms their permanent availability after that update. The complete act list and version mapping are recorded by Teyvat Almanac, an independent fan reference reviewed September 5, 2026.
| Act | Title | Version |
|---|---|---|
| I | “Prelude of Blancheur and Noirceur” | 4.0 |
| II | “As Light Rain Falls Without Reason” | 4.0 |
| III | “To the Stars Shining in the Depths” | 4.1 |
| IV | “Cataclysm’s Quickening” | 4.2 |
| V | “Masquerade of the Guilty” | 4.2 |
The estimate here is for those numbered Archon Quest acts. It does not include Fontaine World Quests, event stories, optional exploration, or separate character Story Quests.
Why published estimates can look shorter
A 2026 guide from Position Is Everything estimates 13–18 hours for Acts I–III, including main-story scenes and required fights. It gives a separate 18–24-hour estimate for players who read carefully, take detours, or spend longer on fights. The guide does not describe a reproducible timing study, and its 13–18-hour range explicitly excludes Acts IV and V.
#1 Best Overall
That distinction matters: “13–18 hours” is not an estimate for the complete five-act chapter. The later two acts are described as the longest in the independent Teyvat Almanac reference, but no verified full-chapter completion-time measurement or official duration was identified. The 18–25-hour range is therefore an extrapolated planning allowance, not a statistic attributed to a publisher or a measured sample.
What can change your playtime
The main variables are how quickly you move through dialogue and cutscenes, whether required fights need retries, how directly you travel between objectives, and whether you stop for optional activities. Those differences can shift an individual run substantially, so treat the range as a way to reserve time rather than a promise about your exact playthrough.
Rank #2
- Dialogue: Reading every line and watching scenes takes longer than moving through them quickly.
- Combat: Retries on required fights add time.
- Travel: Efficient routes between quest objectives shorten the run; navigation detours lengthen it.
- Optional stops: Exploration and side content are outside the main-story estimate.
How to estimate your own run
If you want a more tailored estimate, time one act while playing at your usual pace, then use it as a rough guide—not a precise multiplier—for the remaining acts. Act lengths and your pace may differ, and optional activities can make a simple extrapolation less reliable. Pause your timer when you step away for content outside the required objective chain.
