Each appears in an expression for being in trouble: “in a corner,” “in a fix,” “in a hole,” or “in a spot.”

ANGLE, CRIME, EDUCATION, TEMPERATURE
Angle and temperature can be measured in degrees. Crime has degrees, while education can result in a degree. The link depends on recognizing more than one sense of “degree.”
Why some words can mislead
SHIP and LINER can suggest boats, while CORNER, FIX, HOLE, and SPOT may initially look like unrelated nouns. For this grid, check whether a word works in an idiom or a secondary meaning before committing to a more literal grouping.
