To unlock crafting in The First Berserker: Khazan, rescue Qazumaka during “The Strange Smell,” then complete his “Blacksmith’s Heirloom” mission: defeat Bearius, retrieve Qazumaka’s hammer, and return it to him in The Crevice. Defeating Aratra frees the blacksmith, but crafting and dismantling do not become available until you bring back the hammer.
How to unlock crafting
- Rescue Qazumaka. Progress to “The Strange Smell” at Skoffa Cave and defeat Aratra. Qazumaka then returns to the Human Realm version of The Crevice.
- Speak to him at the forge. From The Crevice’s main courtyard, go downstairs to find Qazumaka. Talk to him to learn that his hammer is missing and make “Blacksmith’s Heirloom” available.
- Start “Blacksmith’s Heirloom.” The mission takes place in Spider’s Tomb, a separate instance of Skoffa Cave on the Charnak Mountain Range map.
- Defeat Bearius and recover the hammer. Finish the mission, then return to Qazumaka in the Human Realm Crevice and give the hammer back.
Returning the hammer completes the unlock. Qazumaka can then craft and dismantle equipment.
What you need to craft equipment
Unlocking the blacksmith gives you access to the service; it does not automatically provide the recipe or materials for every item. To craft a piece, you need its relevant armor-set scroll or blueprint and the materials listed for that item.
Find scrolls and materials
Look for scrolls while exploring. They can be obtained from elite enemies, chests or items guarded by enemies, and bosses in optional missions. Materials can also turn up during missions, while dismantling gear of the relevant rarity can provide materials. Some rarer materials may require farming bosses.

Check requirements before dismantling
Review the blacksmith’s listed requirements before dismantling equipment, and use dismantling when you need materials for a specific craft. The available guides do not establish whether dismantling is more efficient than keeping or selling a particular drop, so weigh that choice against your own equipment needs.

The quest chain is associated with the fifth main-story mission or boss in the walkthroughs, but that is a progression marker rather than a guaranteed playtime. Exploration and difficulty affect how long it takes to reach it.
