To change the Epic Games Parental Controls PIN, sign in to the child’s Epic account, open the Parental Controls page, enter the current six-digit PIN, then select Change PIN under Parental PIN. If you’ve forgotten the PIN, use Forgot your PIN? to request reset instructions by email.
Change the PIN when you know the current one
- Open Epic’s Parental Controls page and sign in to the child’s Epic account.
- If the child mainly plays on a console, check that the Epic Account ID shown on the website matches the Account ID in the game. Epic says the IDs must match.
- Enter the existing six-digit PIN and confirm.
- At the top of the page, under Parental PIN, select Change PIN.
- Enter the new PIN in the pop-up and select Change PIN again.
Epic recommends choosing a six-digit PIN that is different from other PINs you use but still memorable. See Epic’s PIN reset guidance.

If you forgot the PIN
On the Parental Controls page, select Forgot your PIN? and confirm. Epic will email reset instructions. For a minor’s account, the instructions go to the parent or guardian email associated with that account.
If the reset flow does not work, Epic recommends clearing browser cookies and cache, trying a private or incognito window, switching browsers or devices, and checking that you are signed in to the child’s account rather than the guardian’s. For Epic’s documented internal-service error, see its troubleshooting steps.

- Redemption: Online
If the reset email’s link fails, open the email in the same private window and copy the link into the tab where the child’s account is signed in. If that still fails, submit a support request through Epic.
If you can’t access the guardian email
First try to recover access through the email provider. If that is not possible, contact Epic Support; the appropriate support route depends on whether parental consent has been completed. See Epic’s guidance on parent or guardian email access.

What the PIN controls—and what it doesn’t
Epic says a Parental Controls PIN cannot be removed after it has been set, but you can adjust or turn off the restrictions it protects in Parental Controls. Screen-time and payment limits are managed through the device or console platform, not through the Epic account PIN. See Epic’s PIN removal guidance.
Quick Recap
Best Value
- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
