For a straightforward Season 15 start, try a Blessed Hammer build: D4Guides rates its Hammerdin route S-tier and says it can take you from level one into endgame. That is a guide site’s assessment, not an official Blizzard ranking—and Zeal, Divine Lance, Blessed Shield, and aura-focused builds are also viable options.
First, check your access: owning or pre-purchasing a Lord of Hatred edition grants Paladin access, while the Paladin class quest is available to all players, even without an expansion. Here’s how to get started and choose a build that suits your playstyle.

How to unlock the Paladin
Blizzard says pre-purchasing any Lord of Hatred edition grants immediate Paladin access. The class quest is available to all players and classes regardless of expansion ownership; completing it does not itself grant access to the full class. Blizzard’s class article frames the quest around preventing a saint from being sacrificed to Andariel. Blizzard’s Paladin announcement says the expansion became available April 28, 2026.
How the Paladin plays
The Paladin is a weapon-and-shield holy warrior. Its play combines attacks, defensive tools, mobility, auras, and build choices shaped by an oath. Familiar skills include Blessed Hammer, Blessed Shield, Condemn, Zeal, and Heaven’s Fury; other highlighted abilities include Shield Charge, Aegis, Falling Star, and Rally. Blizzard’s class overview describes the following effects:

Use defensive abilities when you need protection rather than treating them as passive bonuses. Rally can help you reposition while supporting Faith generation.
Which Paladin build should you start with?
Blessed Hammer (Hammerdin)
Blessed Hammer is a strong general starting recommendation for Season 15. D4Guides labels its Hammerdin build S-tier, describing spiraling hammers as the main area-damage source, supported by shield skills and auras for defense. Use a current guide for skill points and gear
Build details can change with balance updates. Blizzard reported more than 40 reworked choices, 80 additional options, and up to 83 available Skill Points as part of broad skill-tree changes—not Paladin-only changes. Read Blizzard’s Lord of Hatred overview.
Use a Season 15 guide and its planner for exact skill allocations, equipment, and Paragon choices. A build’s oath, gear, and point distribution are tied to that build’s design and season; copying a few skills without its supporting choices may not produce the same result.
