For the simplest setup, use r2modman or Gale for Thunderstore mods, or Vortex for NexusMods; the Schedule I Modding Wiki says these managers handle the loader and mod installation. If you prefer manual installation, put each DLL in the folder its package specifies: a mod goes in Mods, while a plugin goes in Plugins. There is no independently tested ranking of the “best” mods, so choose by what you want to change and verify compatibility with your game branch, version, and mode.
Choose an installation method
The Schedule I Modding Wiki recommends a mod manager for most players. It lists r2modman or Gale for Thunderstore packages and Vortex for NexusMods packages. These managers handle installation of MelonLoader and mods. r2modman also offers profiles for switching between mod sets, shows updates, and provides Windows and Linux installation instructions. See the r2modman Schedule I page for its current listing.
Manual installation is an option if you want to manage files yourself, but folder placement matters: the wiki distinguishes mods from plugins, so do not assume every DLL belongs in the same location.
Check compatibility and protect your save
Before installing anything, back up your game and save files. Then check the package page for the Schedule I version and game branch it supports, any required loader or dependency, and whether it fits your intended mode. Compatibility can depend on both the game and loader version. Some community recommendations are marked single-player only, so check multiplayer support rather than assuming a mod works in co-op.

- Use a trusted download source and read the author’s installation instructions.
- Review update history and community feedback for signs that a package is maintained and compatible.
- A scanner may catch some suspicious mods, but it cannot guarantee that a download is safe.
Install with a mod manager
- Choose a manager for the source: r2modman or Gale for Thunderstore, or Vortex for NexusMods, as listed by the Schedule I Modding Wiki.
- In the manager, select the correct Schedule I profile and branch. Read the mod description and identify required loaders, APIs, or other packages before installing.
- Install the mod through the manager and check its status or update information. If you use r2modman, profiles let you keep different mod sets separate.
- Launch the game and confirm the mod loads before adding more. Add mods in small groups so you can narrow down a problem if something stops working.
Install a mod manually
- Back up your saves, then download the package from a trusted source.
- Extract the archive and read the package instructions to identify whether it contains a mod or a plugin.
- Find the Schedule I game directory and place the DLL in the matching folder: mod DLLs go in
Mods; plugin DLLs go inPlugins, according to the wiki’s guide. - Check any dependency or loader requirements, then start the game and verify that the package loads before adding another.
Which Schedule I mods are worth considering?
“Best” depends on the friction you want to remove or the gameplay you want to add. A Steam Community guide by 4V10N, updated September 7, 2026, is a player-curated list rather than an objective or independently tested ranking. It includes the examples below; treat them as leads to evaluate, not guarantees of compatibility or quality.
| What you want | Examples | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Navigation and orientation | Minimap; GuideArrows (listed in Thunderstore’s catalog) | Supported game branch, dependencies, and multiplayer fit |
| Employee and operations quality of life | Better Employees; EmployeeTweaks (listed in Thunderstore’s catalog); More Workers (listed in Thunderstore’s catalog) | Whether the package changes the specific employee behavior you want and supports your game version |
| Inventory and carrying | Inventory Expanded; StackItemPlus | Requirements, version compatibility, and any mode restrictions |
| Combat or new gameplay | More Guns | Dependencies, update status, and single-player or co-op support |
| Convenience and automation | Employee and banking convenience options have appeared in coverage of the broader mod ecosystem | The PCGamesN overview was updated July 1, 2025; check each package’s current availability and compatibility |
The Steam Community mod guide identifies some of its recommendations as single-player only. Thunderstore’s Schedule I catalog listed 228 packages when accessed on October 8, 2026, including More Workers, GuideArrows, Polyglot, and EmployeeTweaks. That live count can change, and the catalog includes packages that are not necessarily gameplay mods or compatible with every branch. Some entries are marked Mono or IL2CPP, so check the listing that matches your setup. For older category examples, see PCGamesN’s Schedule 1 mods guide, updated July 1, 2025; its age makes checking current package pages especially important.

Troubleshoot a mod that does not load
- Confirm the folder: for manual installs, verify whether the DLL is a mod or plugin and place it in the corresponding
ModsorPluginsfolder. - Check version and branch: make sure the package supports your Schedule I installation and its loader version.
- Check dependencies: install any required loader, API, or other package stated on the mod page.
- Isolate the problem: disable recent additions or use a separate manager profile, then add packages back in small groups.
- Recheck multiplayer support: a package intended for single-player may not suit your co-op setup.
