How to unseal a Spiritspring
- Spot the seal. A sealed Spiritspring has a ghostly outline of stacked stones in its center. That shows the spring is blocked; it is not the breakable pile you need to attack. (Game8; PC Gamer)
- Search the nearby terrain. Look around the surrounding area for a real, solid pile of stones. Its direction and distance vary, so there is no single direction or fixed search radius to rely on. Moore’s purchasable note, Note: Sealed Spiritsprings, gives the same clue: “Should you chance upon a sealed spiritspring, look for stacked stones nearby,” as transcribed by Gamer Guides.
- Break the physical cairn. Attack the real stone stack with a weapon until it is destroyed. The gameplay guides describe no special item or quest prerequisite for breaking it. (Game8; Gamer Guides)
- Return to the spring. After the game displays a message that the Spiritspring has been unsealed, ride Torrent through the updraft to launch upward. (Game8; Gamer Guides)
Where is the stone pile?
There is no universal compass direction or distance: the cairn is somewhere in the surrounding terrain, and its placement varies. Search the area around the spring rather than attacking the ghostly stack inside it. If you have Moore’s note, it points you toward the same nearby-stacked-stones clue; Game8 reports that Moore sells it at Main Gate Cross for 1,000 Runes.
Are Margit’s or Mohg’s Shackles reliable?
Community posts report that either shackle can sometimes break a sealing cairn from a distance, but that shortcut is anecdotal and is not established by the gameplay guides cited for the standard method. Search for and destroy the physical cairn if you want the documented approach. (Reddit discussion; Reddit discussion)

This mechanic is part of the ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, which requires the Elden Ring base game, according to Bandai Namco Entertainment. Unlocking a spring itself calls for no purchase, special consumable, or replacement tool.
