How the free Heartie unlock worked
Epic announced the Love & Legends event on February 5, 2026. Its instructions were to play Duos, Trios, or Squads in one of five modes and collect Candy Hearts across matches. Earning enough hearts unlocked Heartie Back Bling. Read Epic’s event announcement.

Can you still earn Heartie for free?
No—not through the announced Candy Hearts event. Its deadline has passed. Epic’s announcement does not confirm that Heartie is now available in the Item Shop or through another challenge, nor does it announce a return date.
How many Candy Hearts were required?
Epic’s available announcement says to collect “enough Candy Hearts” but does not state the total. A specific threshold cannot be confirmed from that official event text, so treat any exact number not supported by an official source with caution.

How to check for legitimate future availability
Epic’s general guidance says free Fortnite items can be offered through in-game challenges, free Battle Pass content, or securing an account with two-factor authentication. Those are general examples, not alternative Heartie unlock methods. Epic also notes that some free items are season-specific and advises players to verify offers through official Epic channels.
