Solid Snake joined Rainbow Six Siege as a permanent Attacker with Operation Silent Hunt on March 3, 2026. His radar and scavenging ability adapt recognizable Metal Gear ideas to Siege’s tactical systems, while the season added franchise cosmetics and a separate limited-time event that ended April 8, 2026.
What the Ubisoft–Konami crossover added
Ubisoft announced Snake’s arrival on February 15, 2026, and launched him with Operation Silent Hunt on March 3. He is a permanent playable Operator, listed by Ubisoft as an Attacker with Intel and Front Line specialties. That permanent addition is distinct from the season’s event and time-limited cosmetic offers.
Ubisoft’s announcement carries a copyright line crediting Ubisoft and Konami. The official materials establish the game content and launch details, but do not explain the companies’ licensing terms, financial arrangement, or which company made specific creative decisions. They do not establish that Konami developed Snake’s Siege kit.
How does Solid Snake work in Rainbow Six Siege?
Soliton Radar MKIII: local intelligence, not a building-wide minimap
Snake’s handheld Soliton Radar MKIII scans the floor he occupies and connected staircases. Its display provides a local layout and distinguishes soft walls and floors. It reports threat states: green means “All Clear,” yellow indicates an active default CCTV camera being watched by an enemy, and red signals one or more detected enemies.

A limited precision mode can show detected enemies’ positions and vision cones. It is constrained by charges and a cooldown, and using the radar can alert defenders to its detection. It detects default cameras, not every operator camera gadget, and it does not guarantee that every defender will be revealed.
- Alibi: Prisma holograms can create misleading operator readings.
- Vigil: His ability can cloak him from the radar.
- Mute: Jammers disrupt the radar.
On-Site Procurement: scavenged utility choices
On-Site Procurement lets Snake gather pouches dropped by eliminated Operators and choose which empty secondary-gadget slot to fill. He starts with one secondary-gadget item and can carry up to one item in each of five categories:

- Smoke grenade

The result is a round-by-round utility decision: the player can adapt Snake’s available secondary gadgets to what has been left on the battlefield. That translates his resourcefulness into Siege’s existing match systems rather than reproducing a Metal Gear mechanic directly.
Weapons and role
Ubisoft lists the F2 assault rifle and PMR90A2 designated marksman rifle as Snake’s primary options. His new secondary is the TACIT .45, a pistol with an integrated suppressor and reflex sight. Together with his radar and utility scavenging, the loadout supports an information-focused attacker who can also adjust his gadget options during a round.

How do you unlock Solid Snake in Siege?
Ubisoft said the Operation Silent Hunt Battle Pass unlocked Snake at the start of the season. The official launch information establishes that season’s unlock path; it does not establish current unlock pricing or availability, so check the in-game Operator and store screens for what is offered now.
What else was in Operation Silent Hunt?
The Metal Gear Solid tie-ins extended beyond Snake. The season Battle Pass included franchise cosmetics, including a Psycho Mantis outfit for Smoke. Ubisoft also offered other event cosmetics and packs during the limited event period; those offers should not be assumed to remain obtainable.

Ubisoft’s Operator page includes an in-universe assessment attributed to Stephen Romero, Sr. Analyst: “Snake’s more resourceful than I am. He’s used to taking whatever he can from the battlefield and using it to his advantage.” This is profile text within the game’s presentation, not an independent evaluation.

No. Ubisoft said the 4v4 [REDACTED] hack-and-extract event ran from March 25 through April 8, 2026, so its announced run has ended. The event was separate from Snake’s permanent Operator availability.

How the event played
The mode had two phases: attackers hacked data, then carried the MO disc to extraction while defenders tried to delay or stop them. It used Modified Nighthaven, which Ubisoft said was inspired by Shadow Moses Island.
Attackers were Zero, Solid Snake, Iana, Ash, and Maverick; defenders were Smoke, Ela, Jackal, Kaid, and Kapkan. Limited-time bundles included Jackal as Grey Fox, Ash as Meryl, and Kaid as Revolver Ocelot. Ubisoft also described free event packs through weekly challenges and a Twitch Drop during the event.
What Ubisoft says about Snake’s voice
Ubisoft’s Operator profile and season material specify that the voice-over was cast for Siege and does not represent an interpretation of Solid Snake’s voice within the Metal Gear series. An Xbox Wire article authored by Ubisoft Senior Editorial Comms Manager Chris Watters says David Hayter reprises the role. That is a casting statement about this Siege performance, not evidence about broader Metal Gear continuity.
Watters described Snake at launch as “a new, permanent Operator in Rainbow Six Siege, bringing with him an enemy-pinpointing powerhouse of a gadget that delivers intel to a degree that Siege has never seen.” This is Ubisoft’s promotional characterization, not an independent assessment of the radar or its effectiveness.
What the crossover changes—and what it does not establish
Siege makes Snake permanent, while the event and its offers were time-limited. His radar and scavenging ability adapt familiar Metal Gear themes—reconnaissance and resourcefulness—to Siege’s operator gadgets, counters, and round structure; they are not direct recreations of the source games’ mechanics. The available official announcements describe content, not sales, player response, or other performance measures, and do not detail the business terms behind the collaboration.
