Freelance spokesperson Pete Accetturo, known online as VoiceoverPete, became a Fortnite meme after recording a deliberately absurd plea for players to hand over their credit-card details. Fiverr later banned him after its Trust and Safety team reportedly concluded the clips were being used in a credit-card scam. Accetturo said the script was a joke.
How the Fortnite video started
By 2018, Accetturo had sold voiceover and spokesperson services on Fiverr for about five years. His voiceover work had begun around 2009, after earlier work in sales and spin instruction, according to Jennings Brown’s November 7, 2018, Gizmodo report.
A YouTube gamer asked him to perform a script addressed to Fortnite players. The pitch urged them to rescue John Wick from Dusty Divot by supplying a credit-card number, its three security digits, and its expiration date. Accetturo told Gizmodo the customer had presented it as a joke: “Hey, would you do this? It’s just a joke. All my friends get it. I’m not scamming anybody.”
From paid performance to reusable meme
Accetturo said the first video reached a couple million views before YouTube removed it; that was his estimate, not an independently verified count. Reuploads followed, and a similar clip spread on Twitter. The repeated “Attention all Fortnite gamers” opening made the performance recognizable, while edits let others repurpose it.

Accetturo recorded in front of a green screen and said he generally did not know what customers would put behind him or which soundtrack they would add. The format could travel beyond the original order because the performance was easy to edit into different meme contexts. As he put it to Gizmodo: “With memes, you can’t plan on being one—you’re picked to be one.”
Accetturo’s reported order spike
Accetturo told Gizmodo that the meme spread through the original customer’s network and brought a sharp rise in orders. He described a typical month as about 100 orders, with each clip costing $50, and said he completed about 500 orders during the meme-driven month. These are his reported historical figures, not audited totals or platform analytics.

Why Fiverr banned VoiceoverPete
Gizmodo reported that Fiverr’s Trust and Safety team told Accetturo it had learned his videos were being used for a credit-card scam. Accetturo disputed that account, describing the work as a fake scam and a joke. Fiverr declined to discuss his individual case, but a spokesperson gave the publication the company’s general position: “Any attempt to defraud or scam others is in clear violation of our terms of service and strictly prohibited.”
The reporting establishes the competing explanations, not the contents of Fiverr’s internal review. The company’s statement addressed its general rule against fraud; it was not a detailed public explanation of the individual enforcement decision.

What happened after the ban
In the November 7, 2018, account, Accetturo said he planned to take orders through Patreon at a slightly lower rate and had started a Twitch channel. A November 9 follow-up by Liana Ruppert at ComicBook.com said Accetturo and his son had moved to Patreon. Those reports describe his immediate response in 2018; they do not establish his current platform use or status.
