Install a modlist with Wabbajack
Wabbajack describes itself as an automated modlist installer. Its documented user workflow covers installing a complete list from the Gallery or from a downloaded file—not adding individual mods to an existing installation. See the official Wabbajack Wiki and its Installing a Modlist guide.
- Choose a list. Open Wabbajack and select a modlist in the Gallery, or choose install from disk and select the downloaded
.wabbajackfile. - Read that list’s README. Check its prerequisites and instructions before installing. Some lists require third-party or external files. The official Modlist Readme’s page explains the importance of list-specific instructions and support.
- Choose separate install and download locations. Keep the list installation separate from the Wabbajack folder, game folder, and any other list’s installation. Do not merge separate list installations. Avoid Windows-managed locations such as Program Files, Documents, or OneDrive. If installing from disk, the downloads location must also be outside the game folder and Windows-managed folders.
- Start the installation and wait for it to finish. The time varies with the modlist’s size, your internet connection, and your hardware; the official guide gives no guaranteed completion time.
- Complete the README’s final steps. Return to the list’s instructions after installation and follow any remaining setup directions.
Use the README for the chosen list as the authority on its exact requirements and setup. Wabbajack’s Supported Games and Mod Managers page identifies Mod Organizer 2 as the only officially supported mod manager; some lists using native game installers may involve additional manual steps.
Can you add one mod to a Wabbajack list you already installed?
The official user documentation reviewed here does not specify a universal procedure for adding a single mod to an installed list. A list’s settings, tools, and instructions can be specific to that list, so the installation steps above should not be treated as a safe customization recipe.

Before changing an installed list, check its README and ask in its support channel. Wabbajack’s authoring documentation describes creating lists with a portable Mod Organizer 2 instance, but that is author guidance—not a general method for modifying any existing installation.
