That is a conversion from the stated ratio, not an independently timed test.
How the 96-minute estimate is calculated
The Warhorse Studios forum discussion says that at a setting of 15, one real-world hour in the game simulates 15 hours of the in-game day cycle. Applying that ratio to a 24-hour cycle gives:
24 in-game hours ÷ 15 = 1.6 real-world hours = 96 minutes.
The statement appeared on March 8, 2017, in the official forum discussion “Weekly Torch – the barrel of questions.” It describes the ratio at that time, so it does not establish a universal current duration for every version or configuration.

Why your cycle may take a different amount of time
A time-changing mod or altered setting can change the day-cycle duration. The forum post documents the 15:1 ratio it describes; it does not confirm that every edition or modified game currently uses that ratio. A 2025 Reddit discussion also reports a cycle of around 100 minutes, but that is community commentary rather than an official timing or a more precise measurement: “How much time elapses in game, in the span of 24hrs irl?”
