You can no longer file a new claim for the FTC’s Fortnite refund program. The deadline was July 9, 2025. If you filed after February 14, 2025, the FTC says your claim is under review and you do not need to take further action right now. The agency expects additional payments in 2026, but has not announced a specific date. Check the FTC’s official Fortnite refunds page for current status.

Can you still apply for a Fortnite V-Bucks refund?

No. The FTC stopped accepting claims after July 9, 2025. You cannot start a new claim now, even if you believe your purchases met the program’s eligibility rules.

The program covered people charged in Fortnite for unwanted V-Bucks or in-game items, including gear, llamas, or battle passes. It was a specific FTC settlement refund program, not a general way to reverse Fortnite purchases.

What to do based on your claim status

If you did not file a claim

The claim window is closed, so there is no new application to submit. Use the official FTC program page for any status updates; do not pay anyone who offers to file or obtain a refund for you.

If you filed after February 14, 2025

The FTC says it is reviewing claims submitted after that date. You do not need to take further action right now. The FTC expects additional payments in 2026 after reviewing and validating claims, but its current program page does not give a payment date. A claim being reviewed does not establish that it has been approved.

If you filed by February 14, 2025

The FTC reported that it sent payments to valid claims submitted by that date. If you have a question about your own claim or payment, contact the refund administrator at 1-833-915-0880. Public distribution totals cannot tell you whether an individual claim was approved or how much that person will receive.

How payments work

Claimants selected a payment method when they filed. If approved, you receive payment through the method selected on your claim form. The FTC’s June 2025 announcement said checks should be cashed within 90 days and PayPal payments accepted within 30 days.

The FTC reported sending 969,173 payments totaling more than $126 million in June 2025. It had announced an earlier distribution of 629,344 payments totaling more than $72 million in December 2024. Those are program-wide totals, not an individual refund formula or guarantee. In June 2025, the FTC also said $245 million from the Epic settlement was directed to consumer refunds. See the FTC’s announcement for the distribution details.

Fortnite Physical Gift Card
  • An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
  • If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
  • The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
  • Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
  • Redemption: Online

Who was eligible when claims were open?

These were the program’s historical eligibility rules; meeting them now does not reopen the claim period. The FTC said a person could apply if one of these situations applied:

  • They were charged in-game currency for items they did not want between January 2017 and September 2022.
  • Their child charged their credit card without their knowledge between January 2017 and November 2018.
  • Their account was locked between January 2017 and September 2022 after they complained to their credit card company about wrongful charges.

The person submitting the claim had to be at least 18. A parent or guardian had to file for someone younger. The FTC program page lists these criteria.

How to avoid Fortnite refund scams

Use the FTC’s official program page and its listed administrator phone number. The FTC says it will never require you to pay money or provide account information to get a refund. Do not trust unsolicited messages, links, or offers to secure a payment for a fee. The FTC’s advice is direct: “If someone says they can get you a refund if you pay them, that’s a scam.” Read its refund scam guidance if you receive a suspicious offer.

Why the FTC issued Fortnite refunds

The FTC described the settlement as resolving allegations that Epic Games used deceptive practices connected with unwanted purchases, allowed children to incur unauthorized charges, and blocked some users who disputed wrongful charges from accessing purchased content. This is the FTC’s description of the allegations and settlement, not a finding about any individual account.
