To unlock Merchant in Metaphor: ReFantazio, raise Wisdom to rank 2, complete Brigitta’s request, A Bullish Embargo, and then advance her follower bond. The request takes you to Belega Corridor to defeat Guptaurous. Tycoon is a separate, later archetype—not a requirement for Merchant.
1. Raise Wisdom to rank 2
Brigitta’s request is gated by Wisdom rank 2. Reach that rank before looking to start A Bullish Embargo.
2. Find Brigitta in Grand Trad
Look for Brigitta, the Igniter Merchantess, in Grand Trad near the Igniter Shop in the Sunlumeo Street area. Speak with her and accept A Bullish Embargo.
3. Get the details from the Hushed Honeybee Inn
Visit the informant at the Hushed Honeybee Inn in Grand Trad. The informant provides details about the target: Guptaurous, found in Belega Corridor.

4. Defeat Guptaurous in Belega Corridor
Travel to Belega Corridor and defeat Guptaurous to complete the request. A quest walkthrough recommends Pierce attacks and advises against bringing Mage or Healer archetypes for this encounter; these are tactical recommendations, not unlock prerequisites. See the A Bullish Embargo quest walkthrough.
5. Return to Brigitta and advance her bond
After defeating Guptaurous, return to Brigitta. Completing her request opens her follower bond; progress that bond to unlock the Merchant archetype. The available guides establish the request and bond progression as the route to Merchant, rather than making Tycoon part of the initial unlock. PC Gamer’s followers and bonds guide covers Brigitta’s Wisdom requirement and bond.
