Verify the item and seller
Read the product page rather than relying on an old link, image, or search snippet. Confirm who sells the item, what format is delivered, its value, and any stated region limitations. A physical card, a code, and a listing that merely mentions Steam are not interchangeable.
Assume a gift-card purchase may be final
Amazon says gift cards and prepaid game cards are generally nonreturnable except as required by law. How Steam Wallet Code redemption works
- Sign in to the Steam account that should receive the credit.
- Redeem the Steam Wallet Code through Steam.
- Steam converts the code’s value into the currency of that account’s Steam Wallet, regardless of where the code was purchased. See Steam’s Wallet Code redemption guidance.
Keep Amazon and Steam payment methods separate
An Amazon Gift Card is not Steam Wallet credit. Amazon Pay says Amazon Gift Cards cannot be used to pay third-party merchants through Amazon Pay: Amazon Pay payment methods. Do not give an Amazon gift-card claim code to someone who says it is needed to pay a person or business; Amazon warns against that scam pattern in its gift-card scam guidance.
Do not disguise your residence to get around Steam’s geographic restrictions or local pricing. Steam prohibits doing so in its Subscriber Agreement.
