Collect 999 Gimmighoul Coins, then level up the Gimmighoul you want to evolve. It will evolve into Gholdengo. You do not need Pokémon GO for this method.
How to evolve Gimmighoul into Gholdengo
- Collect 999 Gimmighoul Coins. You can gather them from Roaming Form and Chest Form Gimmighoul across Paldea.
- Level up Gimmighoul. Once you have the required coins, level up the Gimmighoul you want to evolve to trigger its evolution into Gholdengo. Leveling up without the coins is not enough.
This is the evolution method for Gholdengo in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Serebii.net’s Scarlet and Violet reference lists the 999-coin requirement; the page is undated and was accessed in 2026.
Where to find Gimmighoul Coins
Explore Paldea and interact with Roaming Form Gimmighoul, or battle Chest Form Gimmighoul. Coin rewards vary, so do not count on a fixed amount from each encounter.

Both forms provide coins toward the same 999-coin requirement; neither changes how you trigger the evolution.

Do you need Pokémon GO?
No. You can collect coins and evolve Gimmighoul entirely in Scarlet and Violet. Linking the games is optional. Pokémon GO’s official announcement describes a separate feature: sending a postcard from Pokémon GO to Scarlet or Violet enables the Coin Bag, which lets you encounter Roaming Form Gimmighoul in Pokémon GO. That cross-game feature does not replace the Scarlet and Violet coin-collection method.

Yes. You can evolve Gimmighoul repeatedly, but you need to collect the required coins again for each evolution.
