No. Fortnite does not let you gift a skin from your locker, transfer it to another account, or trade it. To give someone a skin, buy an eligible item that is currently available in Fortnite’s in-game Item Shop and use the gift option.
How to gift an eligible skin from the Item Shop
- Open Fortnite and go to the Item Shop in-game. Epic directs players to the in-game shop for gifting; its web shop is for purchases for your own account. See Epic’s gifting instructions.
- Select an eligible item that is currently listed and choose GIFT.
- Select the recipient. Epic recommends using their Epic Games display name rather than their console gamertag.
- Review the details and confirm the purchase.
The gift flow buys a new copy for the recipient; it does not remove or send the copy in your locker.

Requirements and limits for sending gifts
Epic’s gifting support page lists these requirements. Check the current rules before buying, since eligibility and exclusions may change.
- Enable two-factor authentication on your Epic account.
- Reach level 2 or higher.
- Have the recipient on your Friends list for at least two days.
- Send no more than five gifts in a 24-hour period.
- The recipient must log in to receive the gift and cannot have a negative V-Bucks balance.
- Gifts are non-refundable.
- Epic lists gifting as available on Android, PC, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox.
Items that cannot be gifted
Epic excludes items that are not currently in the Item Shop, V-Bucks, Battle Pass levels, some passes and bundles, Fortnite Crew, and other specified offers. Dynamically priced bundles also cannot be gifted if the recipient already owns one or more items in the bundle. Confirm an item’s eligibility in the current shop and support guidance before purchasing.

#1 Best Overall
- Redeemable on accounts in the United States and in U.S. Dollars.
- Gift card must be redeemed at EpicGames.com/redeem. This gift card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly on a console device (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, etc.)
- If you play Fortnite experiences on a console device, you need to link your Epic Games account to your console account(s) so items purchased at Fortnite.com/item-shop appear across all of your linked accounts
- Requires internet connection, valid Epic account and prior acceptance of the terms
- Redemption: Online
If the skin is on the wrong account
Epic says it cannot manually transfer a Fortnite item or cosmetic between Epic accounts; items remain on the account where they were purchased, earned, or claimed, and Support cannot process transfer requests. See Epic’s account-transfer guidance.
If the purchase was recent, a possible correction is to cancel or return it and repurchase it on the correct account—but only if the item is still in the Item Shop and that account has a Cancel Purchase option or an available Return Ticket. This is not a transfer feature, and it may not be available for your purchase.

Why trading or contacting Support will not work
Trading is unsupported. Epic also says Support cannot remove a locker item so it can be exchanged for a different one. There is therefore no workaround that turns an already-owned skin into a gift; the supported route is a separate eligible Item Shop purchase.
Quick Recap
Best Value
- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
