To carry more rations in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, find and speak with food vendors marked by a noodle-bowl icon. Each vendor counts once toward capacity milestones; Hideout rooms such as the Zashiki and Tea Room improve healing instead of adding slots. To refill rations you have already used, visit a Kakurega or find a ration box in the world.
How to increase your ration capacity
- Explore towns and watch your compass for a noodle-bowl icon. It appears when you are near a special food vendor; these vendors are not marked on the map like ordinary merchants, according to PC Gamer.
- Go to the marked vendor and speak with them to collect their food item. Ubisoft developer Ubi-Ineradicable confirmed this method in a Steam discussion reply on April 20, 2025.
- Keep finding different vendors. A vendor is a one-time discovery, not a repeatable capacity upgrade, and additional carried rations unlock as your collected food items reach milestones.
Gamer Guides lists 16 food items and six capacity milestones: after 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, and 16 items. The first item immediately adds a ration; later increases require reaching the next listed milestone.
Does Naoe or Yasuke carry more?
Yasuke has more ration capacity than Naoe, and his capacity increases automatically when he becomes playable, according to PC Gamer. The available guide descriptions do not establish a sufficiently consistent final cap to give a definitive maximum for each character.
More capacity, more healing, or a refill?
These are separate mechanics. Food vendors raise the number of rations you can carry; Hideout upgrades and certain gear affect how much healing a ration provides; supply points and pickups restore rations you have spent.

Where to find the food vendors
Search as you explore settlements and use the noodle-bowl compass marker to identify nearby vendors. If you want a region-by-region checklist rather than discovering them organically, Gamer Guides’ food vendor list documents all 16 items and their locations, including vendors in Sakai and Aekuni Shrine Town.

- Look for a nearby Kakurega and use its supply station to refill.
- Search the area for ration boxes, which can restore spent charges.
- Check defeated enemies for a possible ration drop, but do not rely on it as a regular source.
Ubisoft’s getting-started guide describes Kakurega resupplies and the Zashiki’s ration-efficiency effect. The cited guides are from 2025; a later game update could change mechanics, so check the live game if the behavior differs.
