Roblox does not document a built-in setting for sending a music app through your Voice Chat microphone. Voice Chat is for microphone communication; the documented way to play music as part of a Roblox experience is for its creator to use audio assets and Roblox’s audio system. Choose the route that matches your goal below.
Can you play music through your mic in Roblox?
Roblox describes Voice Chat as a feature for real-time spoken communication. Its player-facing guidance covers microphone controls, but does not document a native music-player-to-microphone feature or setting. That means there is no official Roblox toggle to turn on for broadcasting music from a desktop app through your voice mic.
Some third-party software claims to route computer audio as microphone input, but Roblox’s documentation does not verify those tools, their compatibility, or a safe setup across devices. Treat that as an unverified workaround, not a Roblox-supported method.
Choose the route that fits what you want to do

If you only want to use Roblox Voice Chat
Roblox says Voice Chat is for real-time spoken communication. Access is for eligible users aged 13 or older who complete an age check; Roblox lists ID verification or Facial Age Estimation for first-time access. Verification methods or Voice Chat may not be available in some regions, and phone verification is not a valid way to gain access under the current support guidance. You also need to join an experience that supports Voice Chat. See Roblox’s Voice Chat eligibility guidance.

When you are in an experience, use its microphone controls to mute or unmute yourself, or disconnect from Voice Chat. Voice interactions are subject to Roblox’s reporting and moderation systems, including voice recording. Follow Roblox’s voice safety guidance; as a courtesy, avoid playing loud or disruptive audio around other players.
If you create the Roblox experience
For music that plays inside your own experience, use an audio asset rather than trying to route a music app through a player microphone. Roblox documents AudioPlayer as an object that loads audio by asset ID. For 2D playback, the Creator Hub setup connects AudioPlayer to AudioDeviceOutput with a Wire; AudioDeviceOutput represents playback through speakers or headphones. For positional sound, Roblox also documents Sound objects and newer audio objects for more control.

- Choose audio you can use. Roblox says creators must have permission to use audio. Its Creator Store lists more than 100,000 professionally produced sound effects and music tracks in Roblox’s 2026 documentation; the page does not give a separate date for that count. See Creator Hub: Audio.
- Find or upload an asset. Roblox Support says audio can be uploaded through Studio or the Create page. Uploaded audio must meet Community Standards. See Roblox Support: Audio uploads.
- Load it in the experience. Set the AudioPlayer’s asset ID to the audio asset you intend to play, then connect it to the output arrangement appropriate for your experience. For the documented 2D setup, connect AudioPlayer to AudioDeviceOutput using a Wire. See Creator Hub: Audio objects.

Roblox’s reviewed player guidance does not say that every instance of music over voice is automatically prohibited. It does say voice interactions are moderated, and users remain subject to Roblox’s Terms of Use and Community Standards. If you attempt any audio routing outside the documented creator workflow, do not assume it is endorsed or exempt from those rules; consider whether other players can reasonably hear and tolerate it.
