Bedrock Edition does not have a documented built-in screen that names the biome under your character. You can turn on coordinates in Settings → Game → World Options, or use /locate biome <biome> to search for the nearest biome of a type you name. The command does not identify the biome at your exact position.
How to show your coordinates in Bedrock
- Pause the game and open Settings.
- Select Game.
- Scroll to World Options and switch on Show coordinates.
The display gives your X, Y, and Z position, not a biome name. Minecraft’s official guide to exploring the Overworld explains that coordinates mark a player’s position using those three values.

How to search for a named biome with a command
If you know which biome you want to find, enter /locate biome <biome> in chat, replacing <biome> with a valid biome identifier accepted by your version. Microsoft’s Bedrock command reference says this finds the nearest biome of that type in the current dimension. It is a search for a named biome, not a readout of the biome where you are standing.
Check the consequences before enabling cheats
In a single-player world, the command requires cheats. To enable them, open the world’s Settings → Game options and switch on Allow Cheats. Minecraft’s official command guide warns that enabling cheats permanently disables achievements for that world, even if you later turn cheats off. In multiplayer, commands depend on your permissions; ask the server owner or administrator if you cannot use them.

Will a map or compass show your biome?
No. Minecraft describes maps as showing explored terrain and player position, while a compass points toward world spawn. Neither is documented as displaying biome names. They can help you navigate, but they do not answer which biome you are currently in. See the official Overworld guide.
