Pop-up camps can only be set up at designated locations—not anywhere you choose. Progress until the Camping Kit is available, discover a campsite, then establish it with the Camping Kit or through the Support Desk’s Manage Pop-Up Camps menu. The menu shows the current setup cost, safety rating, and available slots. A 2025 fan-guide checklist names 47 locations across the game’s five regions.
How to set up a pop-up camp
- Unlock the feature through story progression. The Camping Kit and pop-up camps become available as you advance. The reviewed sources do not establish one quest name that applies to every progression route.
- Find a designated campsite. Campsites are fixed locations. Check the map and approach a site until the Camping Kit prompt appears; you cannot pitch a camp at an arbitrary spot.
- Establish or manage the camp. Use the Camping Kit prompt at the site, or open the Support Desk and choose Manage Pop-Up Camps after discovering the location. Confirm the setup using the points shown in the live prompt.
- Review the site and your capacity before confirming. Check its current safety rating, setup or repair cost, and your available camp slots. The slot allowance depends on progression, so use the in-game menu rather than relying on a single number from a guide.
- Use the map to travel and plan your route. Fast-travel to the camp when it saves time on hunts or gathering trips. Consider keeping a safer alternative for routes where a higher-risk camp could be destroyed.
What pop-up camps let you do
Pop-up camps serve as field tents and fast-travel points. PlayStation’s official Gamescom feature overview, published August 20, 2024, says players can use them to fast-travel, manage items and equipment, start quests, and return after fainting. The same overview describes camps as limited in number and placed at fixed locations.

How to choose camps and handle risk
Choose sites based on the routes you repeat, the effort needed to reach the spot, and its current safety rating. A camp that looks close on the map may involve climbing, a vertical layer, or a detour. A riskier site may still be worthwhile if it saves substantial travel, while a stable camp can provide a useful fallback.

Changes in the landscape will impact the creatures that live there and push hunters to adapt as well.
- New Monsters and Wildlife – Monster Hunter Wilds features a variety of new creatures, ranging from herds of small species to large monsters – some of which roam the Forbidden Lands in packs. Every creature hunters encounter in the wild has carved out a special place in its habitat and possesses unique attacks and behaviors.
- Players can also now ride atop the Seikret, an agile new mount enabling hunters to traverse difficult terrain, perform actions like sharpening weapons on the move, and switch between two weapons while out on hunts!
- Evolved Hunting Action – The series’ acclaimed action-packed gameplay is back and more exciting than ever! Hunters can look forward to tracking down monsters with an array of new moves, special abilities, equipment, and more. The action also now flows seamlessly from cutscenes to gameplay, resulting in a new level of immersion.
Camps can be destroyed, and repairing them costs points. Fan guides use ratings such as Safe, Insecure, and Dangerous, but do not apply those labels consistently to every location. Check the in-game camp-management menu for the current rating and repair cost rather than relying on a fixed safety list.
