The Buried City music puzzle was removed in ARC Raiders update 1.13.0 on January 27, 2026. Embark Studios’ official patch notes say the guitar is now purchasable from Shani. The old 15-button route below is historical: it will not solve the removed puzzle in the current game.
What changed in update 1.13.0?
Embark’s Headwinds Patch Notes 1.13.0, dated January 27, 2026, state: “Removed the musical puzzle from Buried City – the guitar is now purchasable at Shani.” The official notes confirm the puzzle’s removal and the guitar’s new acquisition method; they do not say that every item previously reported in the puzzle’s reward room is also available from Shani. Embark announced the update’s January 27 arrival in its Headwinds announcement.
What was the historic button sequence?
Before removal, players had to press 15 red buttons around Buried City in this order:
C, D, D, F, A, F, G, F, G, F, G, A, C, D, D
Each letter represented a button. The order and route were documented in December 2025 walkthroughs by MetaForge and All Things How. The locations below are for players checking old videos or guides, not instructions for a puzzle that remains playable.

How did the former puzzle work?
The historical walkthroughs report that a correctly pressed button lit up and became inactive. Pressing one out of order reset the shared sequence for that raid. Because other players in the instance could interfere, guides advised teams to call out progress, divide the route by area and move quickly. Solo attempts were described as harder because of travel time, combat and the possibility of interference. These mechanics and tactics apply only to the former puzzle.

Historical guides describe a final fanfare and fireworks, with guitars, shakers, recorders and other loot reported in the reward room. The official patch note confirms only that the guitar became purchasable at Shani; it does not confirm a new location or acquisition method for the other reported items.
