To find Azure Kelp in Hytale, search ponds, rivers, and other water in blue, tree-filled forest areas. Check more than one water source, then interact with the bright-blue plant to harvest it; breaking it produces Azure Petals instead. Farming is possible, but the official patch notes leave Azure Kelp’s exact growing conditions unspecified.
Where to find Azure Kelp
Start with blue-shaded forest areas on the map and use blue trees as a visual cue once you arrive. Shacknews identifies blue-map portions of the Emerald Wilds, while PC Gamer points to Azure Forests in the starting region. Because the guides use different names for that region, the map color and trees are more dependable cues than the name alone.
Search ponds, rivers, pools, and small lakes in the area. Azure Kelp does not appear in every water source, so an empty pond is not a reason to leave the biome. Check nearby water before moving on. Shacknews’ location guide discusses the blue-map areas and variable water spawns.
Harvest the plant instead of breaking it
Look for a bright-blue plant in or near the water and use the game’s interact control to gather Azure Kelp. PC Gamer reports that breaking the plant by hand or with a tool yields Azure Petals rather than the kelp item. If your controls are customized, use your assigned interact binding. Try desert oases as a secondary lead
AllThings.How also reports Azure Kelp at oases in the Howling Sands. That location has less corroboration than the blue-forest route, so treat it as an alternate place to check, not a guaranteed spawn. The guide is available at AllThings.How.
Can you farm Azure Kelp?
Yes, Hytale’s official Update 4 notes establish that Azure crops have cultivation requirements, but they do not spell out Azure Kelp’s precise setup. The notes say Blood, Storm, and Azure crop seeds are crafted at the Alchemist’s Workbench, Crystal Fertilizer is required for those crops, and Azure Kelp has unique growth requirements. They do not specify an exact block arrangement, seed cost, or growth time in the published text. Check the current in-game recipe and requirements rather than relying on an assumed farm layout. Hytale’s Update 4 patch notes provide the official details.

Update 5 later removed the Voidheart requirement from the Azure Kelp Seed Bag recipe at the Alchemist’s Workbench. Its separate reduction to the Crystal Fertilizer Bag’s Crystal Shard cost is not a change to the Azure Kelp Seed Bag recipe. See Hytale’s Update 5 patch notes.

PC Gamer reports that two Azure Kelp and eight Azure Logs are used for a teleporter recipe, and notes Azure Logs can be gathered in the same forest trip. AllThings.How gives a fuller recipe that also includes ten Stone, but that full ingredient list is not confirmed in the official notes cited here. Check the current in-game recipe before gathering exact quantities.
