Hyke is a young, white-haired witch looking for her long-lost mother. Her journey takes her into unexplored Forbidden Areas, a world damaged by conflict between humans and witches, and territory guarded by the Meteos witches. Steam’s description frames the journey as exploring dangerous zones filled with magic.
What do you do in HYKE: Northern Light(s)?
The advertised loop brings together exploration, action-RPG play, and time at camps. Hyke travels into dangerous areas, while camps offer a place to rest with companions. Steam also promotes seven distinct playable characters, saying they provide different experiences and strategies. The available descriptions do not explain each character’s abilities in enough detail to compare them or recommend a best pick.

That distinction matters when assessing a review: the feature list establishes what the game offers, but does not establish combat responsiveness, encounter variety, pacing, balance, accessibility, or overall quality. Those points require direct play or stronger independent evidence.
Platforms, editions, and price
HYKE: Northern Light(s) launched in September 2025 on Steam, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5. The official site also lists an Apple Arcade version for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. Apple Arcade requires a subscription; the official site says that version has no additional in-app purchases. The $27.99 figure is the official site’s listed price for Steam, Switch, and PS5, not a guarantee of the price you will pay: regional pricing and sales can change. The evidence available does not establish platform-specific performance differences, so there is no basis for saying one version runs better.
Languages and other storefront details
The official site lists 13 supported languages: Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, Korean, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Turkish, Russian, Dutch, and Brazilian Portuguese. Check the listing for the edition and region you plan to use, particularly if a specific language is essential. Nintendo’s US listing also identifies its Switch release as digital.

A free update called “A Witch’s Chill Time” was announced for April 30, 2026, on the official news listing. The announcement confirms the planned date, but not whether the update ultimately shipped on schedule or what it contains.
