I AM MT: Card Battle translated the character-collection and progression of an MMORPG into a mobile card-battler format. Its cards represented characters to recruit and improve, then assemble into a team for dungeon encounters and reported player-versus-player modes. Contemporary coverage describes a hybrid RPG and card game—not a conventional deck-builder in which the central challenge is crafting a deck and playing cards turn by turn.
What was I AM MT: Card Battle?
I AM MT: Card Battle was a LOCOJOY iOS game based on the animated series I’m MT, which drew on World of Warcraft references. Pocket Gamer described it at launch in May 2013 as a mobile card battler and reported a collection of 500 character cards. That figure belongs to the release-era coverage; it is not a verified current catalogue. Pocket Gamer’s 2013 report also described dungeon and boss encounters alongside PvP.
How did it turn MMORPG ideas into a card game?
The conversion was less about reproducing an MMORPG’s world at full scale and more about packaging familiar RPG loops into a mobile collection game. Characters became cards: players gathered them, leveled them, and used them to build a party for encounters. Rather than treating cards primarily as spells or actions drawn into a hand, the game made its character cards the units being developed and sent into battle.
Collection and character progression
Contemporary descriptions emphasize acquiring characters and improving them over time. The historical iDownloadBlog review described leveling, fusing, and evolving characters as part of progression. That shifts the focus from refining a deck through card effects toward strengthening a roster and the team selected from it. iDownloadBlog’s review characterized the game as an app-based dungeon crawler in which cards functioned as units, rather than a standard deck-building game.

Team setup rather than fully manual combat
Players had choices in arranging a team and positioning characters, but the review described combat as largely automatic and governed by character stats. In other words, the strategic emphasis was on who to bring and how to prepare the party, not on manually directing every attack or playing a sequence of cards during a turn.
Dungeons, bosses, and reported PvP
Pocket Gamer’s May 2013 launch coverage reported PvE dungeon and raid-boss encounters as well as player-versus-player play. These are historical feature descriptions. They do not establish that the game’s online modes or servers work today.

What did the developer say about the design?
In an August 2013 interview with PocketGamer.biz, Locojoy co-founder and CEO Shanhu Xing cited Dungeons & Dragons and Might and Magic among the inspirations behind the team’s games. He said the team wanted a complex experience that asked players to think: “We wanted our players to think.” Xing also said early players came from audiences for the animated series and World of Warcraft; that is his explanation, not an independently measured account of player demographics.
The interview described MT: Wrath of Ator as an updated version of I AM MT: Card Battle, with a name intended to be more accessible to people unfamiliar with the anime. Read the PocketGamer.biz interview for Xing’s comments on the company’s direction and inspirations.

How was it monetized at launch?
MMORPG.com reported on May 13, 2013 that the iOS game had gone free-to-play. Its article quoted Locojoy Marketing Manager Adam Tesluk explaining the company’s move away from a paid-app model after seeing U.S. interest. This is a dated company explanation about a 2013 business decision; it says nothing about whether the app can be downloaded now. MMORPG.com’s announcement covers the change.
The contemporary iDownloadBlog review also mentioned rune currency and purchases in connection with progression. That describes the app as reviewed at the time, not a current store listing or present-day monetization policy.

Metacritic’s historical game details page is a catalog record, not confirmation of current access. No current official availability was established.
