Requirements belong to Air Ride, Road Trip, City Trial, or Top Ride, and a rider available in one mode may not be available in another. Use the picture grid on each mode’s main menu to track its unlocks. The conditions below are reported by Nintendo Life’s guide published November 20, 2025; they have not been independently verified here.
How to use this unlock checklist
Check the picture grid for the specific mode named beside a character. A condition completed in one mode does not automatically satisfy a condition listed for another. Some characters have multiple mode-specific routes; others have just one reported route.

Nintendo describes riders as having individual stats and Special abilities, so unlocking a rider can add a distinct option to your roster. The game is for Nintendo Switch 2; see Nintendo’s Kirby Air Riders page for official game information.

If a completed condition does not award the rider
Nintendo’s update notes document past issues affecting checklist counts and checklist rewards across Air Ride, Top Ride, City Trial, and Road Trip. The notes describe fixes, including restoring counts by restarting the game. If a requirement appears complete but no reward arrives, check the relevant in-game checklist and confirm the game has the latest available update using Nintendo’s Kirby Air Riders update instructions. The documented fixes are version-specific and do not establish that the issue remains in the current version.

Nintendo documents rewards from scanning compatible amiibo, including potentially different or additional rewards from Kirby-series amiibo. Its support instructions say rewards can be scanned up to five times per day and each amiibo can be scanned for rewards once per day. Kirby Air Riders amiibo also support rider-and-machine combinations, figure players in certain modes, training, and a unique reward the first time a figure is scanned. Nintendo’s documented amiibo features do not say that scanning figures unlocks the full character roster; use the mode conditions above for that checklist.
