In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, use a Linking Cord on Machoke to evolve it into Machamp without trading. That item method is specific to the game; check the evolution method for your particular Pokémon title before trying it.
How to evolve Machoke without trading in Legends: Arceus
- Obtain a Linking Cord in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
- Select Machoke and use the Linking Cord on it to trigger its evolution into Machamp.
The game’s evolution reference lists using a Linking Cord as an alternative to trading for Machoke. Serebii’s Legends: Arceus evolution reference documents both methods.
Does the Linking Cord work in other Pokémon games?
Do not assume so. The cited Linking Cord method is for Legends: Arceus; the available information does not establish that it works in other titles. Check the evolution method for the exact game you are playing.
What if you are playing Pokémon Sword or Shield?
Nintendo’s Sword and Shield trading guide describes Link Trade and Surprise Trade. For Link Trades, local communication does not require a Nintendo Switch Online membership; online trading does. This is a trading option, not confirmation that the Linking Cord method applies in those games.
Can Pokémon HOME help you avoid trading?
Pokémon HOME connects several Switch games, including Legends: Arceus, but it is not a universal workaround for a game’s evolution requirements. Transfers depend on whether HOME supports both the source and destination games and whether the Pokémon is supported in the destination. Check Pokémon HOME’s compatible-games information and the official Pokémon HOME site for your specific transfer route before relying on it.
