Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue did not open in Dallas in September as first announced. Mojang moved the planned launch from September 20, 2024, to October 18, and confirmed the interactive attraction opened that day. The Dallas-area stop was at 2712 N. Central Expressway in Plano, near DART’s Parker Road station. The reviewed event listing currently shows no upcoming dates.
What happened to the September opening?
Mojang’s May 29, 2024 announcement named September 20 as the planned opening date for the Dallas-area stop. An update added to that announcement on August 27 postponed the launch to Friday, October 18, citing “technical complexities” and the need for more time. Mojang said ticket holders affected by the change would be contacted individually. On October 18, Mojang confirmed the experience had opened.
So September was the original plan, not the actual launch date. Mojang’s announcement and date update and its opening-day post document the change.
Where was the Dallas-area attraction?
Although promoted as the Dallas stop, the listed venue was at 2712 N. Central Expressway in Plano, Texas, next to DART’s Parker Road station. The location distinction matters if you are looking up where the event took place: it was not in Dallas proper.

What was Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue?
It was a ticketed, collaborative, story-led physical adventure—not a Minecraft game release or convention. Created with Experience MOD and Supply + Demand, it invited visitors to take part in a team mission to rescue villagers while moving through Minecraft-inspired environments, gathering resources and encountering mobs. Mojang said the attraction was intended for people familiar with Minecraft as well as newcomers.

How the quest unfolded
In Mojang’s opening description, guests learned to use an “Orb of Interaction” in the Forest, met their team at the Village Gate and progressed through the rescue quest together. The adventure ended with the group regrouping at the Trading Post. The format translated Minecraft’s exploration and teamwork into a guided, in-person experience.
What did attendees receive?
Mojang’s October 18 opening post said attendees would receive an emailed code for an exclusive in-game Minecraft Experience cape after attending. The cape was a digital redemption, not a physical item handed out at the venue. The same post noted that Mojang had reported more than 300 million copies of Minecraft sold.
