If LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga keeps crashing on PC, start with the symptom: lower the resolution if lockups began after selecting a higher one, use Task Manager to recover from a black-screen hang, then check drivers, graphics settings, background apps, and game files. No single fix is established for every PC; the right next step depends on when the crash happens and which edition you use.
First, identify when the crash happens
Note whether the game crashes on launch, while loading, at a particular level, after a resolution change, or only after some time playing. Record the exact error message, Windows version, storefront or disc edition, graphics hardware and driver version, and whether you use mods or overlays. These details help distinguish a display-related lockup from an installation or system issue; the available official guidance cannot identify an individual PC’s cause without them.
If the game locks up after a resolution change
Star Wars Support specifically reports performance problems or lockups on low-end graphics cards, including after selecting a resolution above 1024×768. If that matches your situation, try a lower in-game resolution. The cited threshold describes a reported troubleshooting scenario, not a universal maximum for every graphics card or PC. Star Wars Support: LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga Performance Issues.
If you see a black screen or the game stops responding
Star Wars Support’s recovery instructions are to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete, open Task Manager, end the LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga task, restart the computer, and try again. This gets you out of an apparent hang; it does not establish what caused it. Star Wars Support: LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga Performance Issues.

Try lower-risk PC checks next
WB Games LEGO Support lists outdated or corrupted graphics and audio drivers, an outdated or corrupt DirectX installation, overclocking or processor/GPU boosting, demanding graphics options, a corrupted game installation, and other applications as possible PC crash factors. These are general PC recommendations, not confirmed causes or guaranteed fixes for this specific game. WB Games LEGO Support: PC Crashing Troubleshooting.
- Check for current graphics and audio drivers from the relevant hardware manufacturer, and install available Windows or DirectX updates.
- If the CPU or graphics card is overclocked or boosted, return it to the manufacturer’s settings while testing.
- Reduce graphics options that may be demanding for your system.
- Close unnecessary applications and retry the game.
Check the game installation
Steam: verify the game files
If you own the Steam edition, use Steam’s game-file integrity check to look for damaged or missing files. WB Games describes file verification as part of its general PC troubleshooting guidance. Menu labels can change between Steam versions, so use Steam’s current properties and installed-files controls for the game. WB Games LEGO Support: PC Crashing Troubleshooting.
Reinstall only if needed
If verification does not resolve the problem, reinstalling may help when the installation is corrupted. WB Games includes reinstalling among its general PC troubleshooting actions; it is not a title-specific guarantee. Before removing the game, make sure you understand how your edition stores saves and whether they are backed up or synced. WB Games LEGO Support: PC Crashing Troubleshooting.
Use a clean boot only as a later diagnostic
WB Games describes a clean boot as a temporary way to test whether non-Windows startup items are involved. It is not the first step: follow Windows’ clean-boot instructions carefully, test the game, then reverse the changes and restart Windows normally. A clean boot can help isolate interference, but it does not by itself prove which application caused a crash. WB Games LEGO Support: PC Crashing Troubleshooting.

Keep the game’s original requirements in context
Steam lists LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga as released on November 12, 2009, with legacy minimum requirements including Windows XP SP2 or Vista, a 1.0 GHz Intel P3 or AMD Athlon XP-class processor, 128 MB graphics with Shader Model 2.0 capability, and 5 GB of free disk space. The original manual specifies a 100% DirectX 9.0c-compatible computer, 128 MB Shader Model 2.0 graphics, 5 GB of storage, and 256 MB RAM (512 MB for Vista); it also lists DVD-ROM for disc installation. These requirements describe the game’s original environment, not verified compatibility or stability on current Windows versions. Steam separately says its Steam Client supports Windows 10 and later beginning January 1, 2024; that client statement does not establish that this game will run reliably on those systems.
