The leak-era claim that Alan Wake 2’s second expansion, The Lake House, was coming soon proved accurate—but it is no longer upcoming. Remedy announced an October 22, 2024 release date on October 17, then confirmed the expansion was available on October 22 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Yes. On October 17, 2024, Remedy announced that The Lake House would release on October 22. Remedy’s launch announcement on October 22 confirmed it was available that day. The original “launches very soon” framing described a near-term release in 2024, not a current launch alert.

Remedy called it the second and final expansion for Alan Wake 2. Remedy’s October 17 announcement included Senior Community Manager Vida Starčević’s statement that the expansion would release on October 22. The publisher’s October 22 launch post confirmed availability.
What is The Lake House about?
The Lake House is a survival-horror expansion set in a Federal Bureau of Control research facility near Cauldron Lake. Players take the role of FBC agent Kiran Estevez. Remedy says the expansion’s events take place toward the beginning of Alan Wake 2, connecting its story to the game’s wider timeline.

Remedy’s launch announcement describes a new location, new enemies including The Painted, and the Black Rock Launcher. These are the publisher’s descriptions of the expansion’s contents, rather than independent assessments of how they play.

Remedy says owners can access the expansion through the Expansion Pass included with Deluxe Editions, or by upgrading a Standard Edition to the Digital Deluxe version. Epic Games Support lists both The Lake House and Night Springs in the Deluxe Edition Expansion Pass.

Remedy says players can start it from the main menu or, during the “Scratch” mission, by asking Estevez about the Lake House. Store availability and purchase terms can vary by platform and region, so check the current listing for the edition you own before buying an upgrade.
