Yes—Metal Cat is worth using when you need a durable stall unit against a hard-hitting enemy whose attacks arrive slowly or moderately. It is not invulnerable: most qualifying hits deal 1 damage, but frequent attacks can use up its limited hit capacity, and Critical or Toxic attacks bypass its main advantage. Its 600¢ Chapter 2 cost and roughly 17.87-second recharge make it a situational pick, not a default meatshield.
What Metal Cat’s Metal ability actually does
PONOS’s Cat Guide describes Metal as reducing damage from most attacks significantly while leaving the unit vulnerable to Critical strikes. The community-maintained Battle Cats Wiki unit reference specifies that non-Critical and non-Toxic attacks deal Metal Cat 1 damage per hit. So Metal Cat is not immune to damage; its protection works by making many individual hits count for only one point.
At level 20, Metal Cat has 12 HP, meaning it can withstand 12 qualifying 1-damage hits before being defeated, assuming no other damage or effects. That limit matters: a slow attacker may take a long time to use up the buffer, while a rapid attacker can consume it quickly.
When Metal Cat is worth deploying
Use Metal Cat when a dangerous enemy hits hard but does not attack so quickly that it burns through the hit buffer at once. Its role is to buy time for damage dealers or other support to work. The unit reference names Dark Emperor Nyandam and THE SLOTH as possible stall targets and describes Metal Cat as able to block Wild Doge.

These are stage-dependent decisions, not guaranteed matchup results. The enemy’s attack frequency and damage type matter more than its damage per hit alone.
Metal Cat versus cheap meatshields
Against many weak peons, ordinary cheap meatshields are generally better value: they can be deployed frequently without committing as much per deployment. Metal Cat costs 600¢ in Chapter 2, so reserve it for a threat where its ability to absorb qualifying hits is useful. If weak enemies keep reaching it, the unit reference suggests clearing the path with frequent Area, Wave, or Surge attacks rather than relying on Metal Cat to handle the crowd.

Stats, cost, and attack limitations
The Battle Cats Wiki unit reference lists these level 20 values: 12 HP, 96 attack damage, 140 range, single-target attacks, two knockbacks, and a 600¢ cost in Chapter 2. It gives a recharge time of approximately 17.87 seconds and notes that recharge may vary. Its standard detailed stats include 300% Empire of Cats treasures, so the listed values should be read in that context rather than as a universal result across every setup.
Single-target attacks and 140 range are reasons not to treat Metal Cat as a general-purpose attacker. Its practical value is chiefly its stall function, not its listed 96 damage.

How to get Metal Cat and what to invest in
The unit reference identifies Metal Cat as a Super Rare Cat unlocked from the Rare Cat Capsule when “Limited Edition” is part of the pool. Capsule pools can change; PONOS says the in-game Cat Guide gives hints for obtaining uncollected units, so check there for the current acquisition information (PONOS Cat Guide).
Metal Cat evolves into Metal Macho at level 10, and the unit reference says it cannot receive plus levels and is capped at level 20 (unit level information). The sources do not establish a universal rule for what to do with duplicates, so check the current in-game exchange details before deciding whether to keep or convert one.

- Identify the enemy you need to stall and whether it uses Critical or Toxic attacks.
- Estimate whether its attack cadence is slow or moderate enough for Metal Cat’s 12 qualifying hits to buy meaningful time.
- Check whether 600¢ and the roughly 17.87-second recharge suit the stage’s economy and timing.
- If weak peons are overwhelming the frontline, use suitable cheap meatshields and clear the path with area attacks instead of asking Metal Cat to solve the crowd.
