Capcom’s pre-launch targets for Monster Hunter Wilds were 30 fps on Xbox Series S and two options on Xbox Series X: a 30 fps graphics-priority target or a 60 fps frame-rate-priority target. These are announced targets, not guarantees that the game maintains those frame rates in every scene. Later observations suggest console performance improved, but they do not establish new official targets for the current version.

What frame rate did Capcom target on Xbox?

Capcom’s pre-launch console targets were reported by GameSpot on December 19, 2024, following a community update. The figures describe intended modes and rendering resolutions, not measured average frame rates.

Xbox console and mode Rendering resolution Reported frame-rate target
Series S 1920×1080 30 fps
Series X — Graphics priority 3072×1728 30 fps
Series X — Frame-rate priority 1920×1080 60 fps

GameSpot’s report gives inconsistent Series X output-resolution figures between its narrative and table, so the table above uses only its internally consistent rendering-resolution and frame-rate target values. GameSpot’s report

What should Xbox Series X players choose?

Graphics-priority mode

The pre-launch specification pairs a 3072×1728 rendering resolution with a 30 fps target. Choose this mode if you prefer the higher stated rendering resolution and are comfortable with the lower target.

Frame-rate-priority mode

The reported target is 60 fps at 1920×1080 rendering resolution. Choose it if responsiveness and a higher intended frame rate matter more than rendering resolution. The target does not mean every scene will hold 60 fps.

Does Monster Hunter Wilds run at 60 fps on Xbox Series S?

The pre-launch target reported for Series S was 30 fps at 1920×1080 rendering resolution. The cited reporting does not establish a 60 fps Series S mode.

Did later updates change Xbox performance?

Windows Central reported on February 18, 2026, that Ver.1.041.00.00 included console performance enhancements. The article’s author briefly observed Xbox Balanced Mode around 30–40 fps and said Performance Mode ran more consistently at 60 fps than in earlier patches. Those are the author’s observations, not controlled test results or new numerical targets confirmed by Capcom. Windows Central’s update report

Capcom’s official announcement lists Xbox Series X|S among the platforms and gives the game’s release date as February 28, 2025. Capcom’s release announcement Microsoft’s Xbox listing identifies the game as optimized for Series X|S and lists 4K Ultra HD and HDR10 capabilities. Those display capabilities do not establish that a 4K or HDR display improves frame rate. Xbox store listing
